What relevance was that? Looking forward to seeing that conversion, tom!

Just played the same guy last night, and he used an Isengard Troll again. It appears he didn't learn, because he tried to pull the exact same thing on me. So I did the exact same thing on him. But this time the troll got lucky and killed 6 WoMT and the captain before reaching my main line, and that's not including the orcs killing the rest of the group.

I still won :D

Still not that impressive for a Troll... and your opponent obviously has the wrong idea. A troll with low Fight value (low for a Troll) and high Defence like that is meant for carving it's way through warriors, who find it tought to damage due to it's high Defence.

when playing evil i always take two or three wargs and thats just for the pshycological effect, if you want to hit your enemy take a small unit all armed with bows unleash a few volleys and than charge, those are most useful tactics for wargs. :D

Ummm... you got the wrong page skully, we're talking about Isengard Trolls here.

Don't feel embarassed, I've done the same thing myself.

Right, let's see if I can do this legally 8)

Fight and Strength: Same as a Cave Troll
Defence: 1 more than as a Mordor Troll
Attacks and Wounds: Same as a Cave Troll
Courage: One more than a Mordor Troll

Points: 5 more than a Mordor Troll

Tactics: Used to defeat warriors, not heroes. Heroes will make short work of it because of it's lower Fight value, and their Might points will ensure they penetrate it's Armour.

HOWEVER, warriors are easy meat for the Troll for 2 reasons:

a) Trolls can ALWAYS beat warriors in a Fight (except for Ents :x )
b) Warriors, if they do win the Fight, will find it hard to hurt due to its high defence.

thanks Telcontar, his stats are interesting, but I think a mordor troll is worth more in my opinion (if I'm remembering his stats right)

An extra point of defense can be an amazing thing.

Last night I played a game with a borrowed army. My co-worker that intodruced me to SBG played a UH force (mostly sword/shield with a few crossbows ) and let me control his High Elf (mostly Elf blades and shields with a few bows ). Both were 300pt and each had 2 unnamed captains. Very equal force.

We were playing a take-and-hold and each came in very spread out around the sides. I believe what really made the difference was the high defense of the elves. He missed a LOT of wound rolls by one. It let me keep my elves alive long enough to pull them together and eventually surround and take out his UH on my terms.

What I am thinking is that Trolls are often magenets for bow fire and also get a lot of attention from enemies that want to take them out early. This high defense of the Isengard Troll will probably help prolong them long enough to waste a lot of enemy attention and get in close.

Now I just need my local shot to get it in stock so I can find out!

I think that the high Defence of the Troll is enough to stop most arrows. For example, the strongest bows on the good side need 6/4+ to wound it, and then it can take three wounds!

You might want to shrink your Avatar down, but yes 3 wounds is pretty cool

Um, hate to break it to you, but whatever Troll you take, it will also have 3 wounds.

I just think that this has stalled, because I last posted on this topic nearly a week ago. Therefore, I will suggest a new topic. Thror, please feel free to turf me out on my ear for taking liberties.

Feral Uruk-hai

Thror hates them, I hate them, but do you?
