https://conquerors-of-colquhoun.medium.com/Hey everybody,
My friends and I have been playing this online tabletop campaign game, Conquerors of Colquhoun, for quite some time, and we are now on our third campaign.
The campaign features empire-building on a world map, where players build settlements, armies, fleets, and make diplomatic actions such as establish trade routes.
However, when armies meet, players actually fight out the battle on the field, using units of troops to engage. All game rules from both the map and field are entirely created by us.
I also like to write a historic “Chronicle” of the campaigns, told from the perspective of a historian of sorts in the world, making for a very authentic and roleplay-oriented experience. Everything that is recorded in the Chronicle, from the names of settlements and characters to how armies move and attack, are products of actual gameplay mechanics, just told in a fluffy way.
This time, instead of just sharing the Chronicle with friends using Google Docs, I opted to document it via Medium, and I’m looking to update the Chronicle with every weekly session we have.
I’d love to share our experience with you all, and hope you enjoy the read. This thread, which I have lurked and posted on for the greater part of a decade, has been a huge inspiration for me. I originally got the idea of doing a tabletop campaign from someone's post here, and used LotR SBG rules and minis to do so until moving on to Roll20, so I would like to thank everyone here as well!
