Hi, DwarvesfortheWin!, about your question

Quote:
Dit you make the arrows yourself? Or is there some place you can buy them on the right scale?

I made the arrows from scratch. I don't know where to buy single arrows for 28mm size.

These on the base are quite easy to make: I took some pins - I like the cheap ones you get together with a new shirt, because they are not so hard to cut - cut them to the right size and put them into a piece of cork for the following steps. The feathers and the arrowhead are made of paper, glued at the pins with white glue. I took larger pieces at first and later cut them to size after the glue was dry. Then came painting. At last I drilled some holes into the bases for the arrows sticking in the soil and glued the parts onto and into the bases with white glue again.

Here's my completed April entry:

Didn't come up with too much for the bases, but poor old Eomer, who had already donated his legs to Theodred, has now lost his head :(

Lovely work slinky. The Reds & maroons on the Uruks are so vibrant- really like to see for a change. Well done

I haven't even started my April entry yet. I've got a lot of work to do!

Very expressive models, slinky. As a group together they are looking great, more so than each miniature for itself. The impression is that of a mob of wild, crazy and aggressive monsters. Very Fitting for Uruk hai, indeed.

I suppose Eomer's head is on the banner? And you made its hair an beard from green stuff?

Thanks, both!

werennor - It's a little hard to see, but poor Eomer's head is on the base of the captain, not looking very well at all ;)

is there a deadline for April entries yet? This Friday is May 1st. I'm really close to finished with my Theoden but probably couldn't finish by May 1st. Any chance of a small grace period through the first few days of May? Having the weekend (and maybe a few extra days beyond that if people were feeling extremely generous) to wrap things up would be excellent.

Oh, thank you, slinky, for the information about Eomer's head. I indeed overlooked it, although it's a cool part of the captain's base, and it explains why his axe is bloody.

I like such decent logical connections in miniatures. They make a model much more interesting because they create stories in the viewer's mind.

How bout we extend it to Monday May 3rd. I'd love to have the weekend too and I know a few people signed up to the challenge late.

Great job - Well done!

I love that model, it really looks like Bernard Hill - I haven't painted Theoden yet, but I think I plan to use the plastic mounted version, but that metal one for the on-foot version.

I have updated the main post, May is now open for your submissions ! Great work all so far, I have enjoyed seeing your projects, it is inspiring me to crack on and finish my own models. Let's have a dig in the hobby cupboard and see what needs some work.

Great job everyone! Something enviable about every entry I saw. Mr. Gimli, I love how different both your models are and how well the scabby flesh of the Goblin King turned out. Froggy, I love your basing. I'm always afraid to go big on bases...

My entry is up. It's big and I didn't want to clutter the page with it, so it's its own topic. You can read all about it and find the link to the photos under "Pharaoh's Furrows/Maggot's Garden" in the terrain subforum.

I'll try to do some LoTR models this month. I'm aiming for some ruffians, but my flesh tones dried out in their pots and GW Canada is still closed.

There are great painting results in April! Theoden is gorgeous. And I like the old metal ents very much. The painted model in this challenge is full of character. it has the air of an old and dismal but yet strong giant.

I'm looking forward to the May challenge!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! All the entries are impressive.

However, I don't see my username or Theoden on the first post of this thread in the "April - Entries" section. Is there something else I need to do?

Looking forward to May as well, hoping to post my proof pics in the coming days once I get my minis assembled and primed.
