Hello ... can anyone help with a couple of questions?

If you have an army of (for example) 35 models, then your break point is 18 (17.5 rounded up). So you are only broken when this is exceeded, ie. when 19 models have been killed. Is this correct?

(I had in my head that you break at half, so assumed 18 kills out of 35 would break the force, and have been playing that way).

Second, I read in the FAQ that Uruk-Hai berserkers may have a one-handed weapon. I can't see any on the models. Can you just use berserkers one or two-handed like an elven blade?

Thanks for reading!

1) Yes you are correct. Breaking is when you have lost more than half of your starting models.

2) Per the main Hobbit rulebook all models are treated as having a hand weapon. One models were you can not find a modeled weapon, or on models like wargs and great eagles that can not hold weapons, they are unable to make special strikes when using it. This means that a berserker could elect to use a hand weapon or a two-handed sword at the start of its combat but it my only faint with the two-handed sword when it is being used. The distinction between this and the ability of an elven blade is only slight but it stems from an older edition of the rules when most two-handed weapon models did not have secondary weapons. There was a trend among players to avoid using models that used to only have two-handed weapons because of the cost to reward ratio being perceived as unfavorable. The Hobbit edition tried to make those models more viable by giving everyone an unspecified hand weapon and making elven blades have an additional bonus for resolving tied duel roles.

Thanks very much for the answers, very helpful.

Makes sense in gaming terms ... although the idea of a berserker putting down his giant sword and attacking with a dagger hidden in his boot instead doesn't seem very berserker-ish! (I guess you can imagine it differently).
