Hi all, thinking about some lists for an upcoming tournament. 600 point lists, plus a free 'herald' from this list: • Gandalf the White (on foot) • Gandalf the Grey (on cart or Shadowfax) • Radagast on Sleigh with Sabastian • Radagast on Eagle • Saruman the White with horse • Saruman the Wise
I've got two lists in the works - one a more competitive elven force, the other a fun all mounted Rohan list:
List 1 Elladan and Elrohir - h. armour 1 High elf 1 High Elf w/ bow
Legolas - armour, elven cloak, horse 4 Wood Elf w/ spear 4 WE bow 4 WE
Thranduil, King of Mirkwood - armour, bow 1 WE banner w/cloak 7 WE spear 4 WE bow
and Saruman the Wise
List 2:
Eomer, Knight of the Pelennor mtd 4 Redshields - spears 5 Redshields 1 Outrider, mtd 1 Royal Guard 1 Son of Eorl
Erkenbrand mtd 4 Redshields - spears 5 Redshields 1 Outrider 2 Sons of Eorl
Gandalf the White on Shadowfax
Let me know what you think of the lists - trying to decide which one to take and any feedback is welcome. Thanks!

Is the high elf part of the elven force legal? I mean isn't it over the bow limit or did you get a decimal and just round up?

Yes, it is legal - bow limit is rounded up.

Hmm. I never have gotten used to that rule. Now the question I have for your elves is this. Why bring Saruman and a shooting heavy wood elf list if your opponents have a good chance to bring free blinding light and staff breaking from Gandalf the White? It would seem the Saruman is supposed to do something in tandem with your other big heroes and that it is the heroes that you mean to carry the game. But I can see other shooting armies that have Gandalf and better armor giving you a lot of trouble.

Good points. I might then swap Gandalf for Saruman in the Elf list.
I am leaning however towards taking the Rohan list - it is much fluffier and the all-cav will be a fun challenge.

I think the Rohan list looks pretty good. I am sure that you will be able to play them pretty well against most comers. You'll just have to take care to shoot down Radagast if he shows up. The mounts he has, in particular, could be a brig problem. But I can't think of any good counters for him other than a horses Gandalf to screen. But if you dedicate Gandalf to anti wizard duty you will have to forgo having blinding light support. I guess that will make it interesting though.

I lean towards the first list but I'd probably drop the twins and take a Mirkwood ranger captain and a handful of those, maybe Tauriel even? Since you've got the banner especially I'd try to max out your troops and much as possible. I see why you would want some fighty choppy heroes and the twins are great but you can almost as much and a solid few more troops. You could also just get a Wood elf captain but I think the rangers tend to be better. I also would try to take two Guard of the Galadhrim court for that f6.

After much more consideration, I'm thinking of taking the Rohan list or an all-hero White Council list as follows. I think it could be solidly competitive, getting some good synergy between Galadriel's Renew Spirit and Gandalf/Elrond's casting abilities.
Legolas - horse, armour, elven cloak Gandalf the White - Shadowfax, elven cloak Galadriel Lady of Light Glorfindel - Armour of Gondolin, Horse Elrond, Lord of the West
Does this list seem at all competitive? Y'all can probably tell that I prioritise fluff, but losing every match badly is no fun either! Thanks for any criticism/comments.

I haven't played a lot of all hero but I think, you might struggle with two casters? Since neither Gandalf or Galadriel are particularly great and getting thrown in to combat, not too bad but squishy if nothing else. You do have a lot of powerful models though so you can always roll well and make some powerful plays which will sometimes just crush armies irreparably.

I prefer the Rohan list. Much better themed and will do well competitively.
Might struggle with the white council list. I would swap Legolas out if you do take that list as he would just be getting in range of your opponents bows and be focus fired down. You want to be getting into close combat so you may be distracted trying to get some good shots off with him when you should be getting stuck in.
