Hm seems the journey east was not so interesting for you guys... So we return North! XD

My latest project was my Dunedain/Grey Company force.

Here you go:

As you can see I can play them in the older days with Arathorn as the leader or with his son.

My idea for the bases was that they were defending some of the ruins of their forefathers.

more to come soon

Outstanding....I don't think that I've ever seen a Grey Company army painted quite like that, but it really works great with the dark grey, with some black and red mixed in....Impressive

Congrats, you should be very proud of that Army !

Awesome! I also have some perry plastics waiting to be turned into Dunedain rangers on horseback. These look really cool!

Really love the Dunedain! :yay: They look amazing together. The Elven Twins also have a very nice colour scheme, very fitting with the rest of the force, but still distinctly Elvish.
Some great conversions as well.
My only two points of criticism, if I may, would be the spears on the backs on some Rangers (how do they stay there?), and Arathorn's eyes. But other than that, simply brilliant work!

Brilliant work, in particular the Mounted Ranger conversions. The bases also bring the figures together

Saturday and sunday I was very busy..... My girlfriend has a lot to study at the moment so I had a whole weekend just to paint.

I have no idea how I managed to paint so much in under two days. And I even had time to study myself and play a few matches of Overwatch.

I think I was in some kind of painting frenzy..... :-D

Another great chunk of the commission done.

alltogether 30 Orcs (13 with axes and shield, 13 with spears and 4 with two-handed weapons) 25 Morannon Orcs (19 with axes and shields and 6 with spear and shield) and Gothmog. So 56 models altogether.

To be honest at the end my fingers began to start to hurt a bit  .

hope you like it

Very impressive, can't tell you how long my Warriors of Dale have sat on my workbench waiting for me to just buckle down and paint them.

How did you do it? Do one color across all the figures then another color? Or break it down by type of figure?

My eyes would be killing me if I tried to do that much in a weekend.

Well done, even got the eyes on the shields done in that time!

The Grey Company is excellent. Really like the mounted ones - are they Perry light cavalry? I don't normally care for figures standing on rocks, but it works well in this force, especially the ones on the stone steps.

Thanks guys!

@Mapper: I painted in groups of 12 I think. One color after the other.

@Gangleri: Yes I used the excellent Perry box.

On Saturday we are hosting our next tournament and I decided to go for Isengard and Mirkwood. My Isengard force was already shown but I think I never posted my Mirkwood stuff here. I only had to finish the King (best sculpt I've ever seen) but decided to pimp some of the older Models and went for different matching bases.

Thranduil also got a bow and quiver.

And since he lives in Mirkwood, here is my Hobbit Radagast:

Love the more Autumnal scheme you've gone for with Mirkwood.

Very nice thread! How do you feel the perry miniatures scale with the GW line? I was thinking about using them to bulk out a fiefdoms army.

Thanks!

I think to Perrys fit perfectly! Go for it! I've also converted some Perry miniatures for my Dol Amroth Men at Arms.

Really cool stuff!!! I especially like the autumn themed armies!
What kind of material are the logs on the bases? Actual wood splinters you got from outside? I always seem to fail with making decent logs or broken branches.
