McMenamin's Kennedy School is hosting a JRR Tolkien birthday party, with Hobbit themed food, films and music.

Ring of Gyges and I will be setting up a table to do a bit of Hobbit / Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Gaming. Stop by if you're interested in building a community of Pacific Northwest players!

How did this go? Spur any interest?

A little, but no game changers. It was a McMenamin's crowd, not a Tolkien crowd, so interest was very casual. We actually migrated back to Guardian Games partway through the day, and a couple of folks stopped by there.

We'll probably be playing there more regularly, just to "be seen".

How's the scene in Seattle? Is there enough play up there to get a real tournament going? I'd actually volunteer to help organize, but I'd want to get a sense that there's sufficient interest.

If you're ever down in Portland, give me a shout: patandbrit@gmail.com

Not sure on interest, I have stopped going to the GW store near me since they stopped carrying the Hobbit. Before I stopped, the manager said there were a few people playing LOTR but I never saw it in the store. The other gamestore I go to is usually playing Bolt Action or Warhammer 40K.
