Hi and welcome to the June Painting Challenge. This month you have chosen

The The Lord Of The Rings

Image

Rules

If you are unsure as to whether something will be eligible for entry, just post asking or PM me and I will let you know whether or not you may use it.

This will be a single miniature chalenge

1.To complete the challenge an LOTR featured miniature must be completed by June 30th.

2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniatures 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible.

3. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of June 30th 2016. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 4 photos of your completed entries please, this allows you to show your miniature off from multiple angles.

4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to reduce their backlog and improve their painting skills.
5. Top 5 will accrue points which will transfer to the annual league.

Good luck to all

The banner for this topic inspired me. I'll be painting Elrond and Gil Galad.

After all these years, I hope to add Durin's Bane to my list of finished miniatures.

I would like to give a shot and take this month as a chance to finally start painting my dragon as it took a lot of work to just fix the wings (shorten them + re sculpt a lot of detail). Please let me know if my entry is eligible as its a non-lotr model but will be using it as one.

....and done! I added a shield to gil-galad. For gaming reasons obviously. It is hard to turn down D8!

Jdizzy001 - you need to submit your finished pics via an image hosting site such as photo bucket or imageshack rather than attachment bud. It makes it easier for the mods to set up the voting. Thanks.

Forgive my ignorance, can someone send me a PM explaining how to upload my photo from a photo sharing site?

You upload it to whatever photosharing site you prefer (I've used Photobucket for ages), and then you should be able to get a link to the image somewhere on that site. Copy that link and paste it in a comment here with the [img] tags around it, and you're golden.

Posting pictures on the One Ring using photobucket.

Once you have registered a free account with photobucket - click on upload, see pic below.
Image

Now in the center there will be an option that says "Choose Photos and videos" see pic below. Click this and select pictures you wish to upload.
Image

Once the upload process is complete you will get the screen below. It will say image uploaded successfully either to an album you have created especially or your "bucket" in the example below i uploaded the screenshot to an album entitled 40k. Click on this part to take you to the screen displaying the images you have just uploaded.
Image

Once on this screen underneath your uploaded images will be a series of links. The IMG code highlighted in the pic below can be copy and pasted straight into a thread here on the One Ring and your chosen picture will be displayed.

Alright, lets see if I can convicingly get away with using a hobbit miniature for this LoTR challenge...

Image

Bilbo certainly featured in the lord of the rings trilogy, and in the films we even see a flash-back to a young bilbo finding the ring in Golum's cave. Is this miniature acceptable for the challenge? :D
