Hello everyone. Been super long time. I moved, that took a long time to unpack models and scenery and such. I have done some painting here and there and sculpting. But nothing of note. Now comfortable again, I have been watching my miniature mentor videos and looking at several models that did not handle the move well. When you have thousands, a dozen broken weapons or chipped paint jobs are not unexpected. So, I will be back to trying to see everyone's wip posts and will get something new up on here soon. Hope everyone is doing great.

I feel your pain, I'm only just getting back into the swing of things after a move myself. Good to see you back here :)

This is my practice. I am ramping up to do a lot of sculpting this year and I am practicing both sculpting and being fast. These were done in less than an hour total including baking in oven. This is sculpey firm with a mix of sculpy mold maker to soften it. I will be trying some other clays in the future like fimo. This is a start, better than my previous heads I have done for sure. Will keep practicing.

These look great! Very fitting for Orc (or Uruk) heads indeed.
I'm always anxious about sculpting heads my own, and I try to avoid it, but you did a great job! Starting with sculpting Orc heads is also a great idea, because it's pretty forgiving.
Anyway, great job! :yay:

My latest attempt. Have a lot of ideas of things I want to sculpt, just need to push my skills to be able to do it.

Work in progress on this latest sculpt. Will be holding a bow in left hand and signaling two fingers with the right. Will add some other details to him and try to tidy him up a little bit when I get hobby time again. Still a lot to practice. If I could get my spy camera to work at dave Fredrick desk I might pick up some more tricks.

Working the cloth a bit. I think I like what I have so far. This is wip, still have gloves, boots, pants, touch up...but for now this is what I am planning for the cloth. The blends came out pretty good for the layers I think. Let me know.

Thanks, greatly appreciated. I used a bit of red in the shading and when I was applying the layers of highlights I was blending over it so it was more subtle but it still shows a little here and there on the close ups. Here are two off the block, now that I feel beter about the scheme I will work on larger batches.

I love what the red shade does to the blue; it gives a very nice look that is easy on the eyes. The bases have a busy look, but it's a good kind of busy. It doesn't distract too much from the dwarf. Are you using NMM, or is it metallic paints?

These are metalics. I would not do nmm for a troop scheme. Leadbelcher, glaze black or nurn oil if preferred, light over brush of Leadbelcher with chain mail silver. Then some high points picked out with watered down chainmail. I do the metal first, so often I have to repair the metal at the end, for the most part Leadbelcher mixed with a little black paint can save time instead of painting then glazing.

Thanks for the reply and question.

These conversions are looking great! I am always in awe of how people can do it at this scale. Look forward to more.

Looking great, love the base, and particularly like what you've done with the armour on his boots/gauntlets. Very nice :)

Looking good. I think the face on the left looks really excellent! Also think the blue and the brown work nicely together - good colour choice :)
