Chief Hugh and I just finished a lovely point match. I played Haradrim allied with easterlings and he played a pure mounted rohan force. The match started off well in my favor as he suffered greatly from my many arrows. In fact, he lost 8 of his 18 riders. Then we met in melee combat ... he took me down from 31 to 14 untis in 2 rounds. All in all it was a good game, all I have to say is those royal guards and sons of erol are not to be trifled with. Their defense is through the roof! They are a force to be reckoned with, no doubt!

Sounds like a fun match! Which Heroes was he using? Going in with 18-20 minis in a ballsy move but it looks like sometimes quality trumps quantity.

Sounds like a good game, how many points were you playing?

The big question in my mind is what about the terrain? Those all mounted Rihanna armies just stagger if you can't draw them into terrain.

Imagine if he had a mounted gandalf in there with blinding light.

500 points

He used knight of pellanor and erkenbrand along with a bunch of royal guards, sons of erol and outriders.

I used amdur, golden king, a generic chief, a bunch of watchers of karna, warriors of harad (with improved shooting) and a phalanx of easterlings. My briggest problem was that i didnt bring my light infantry to bear soon enough.

However, my archery was stellar, i was able to fire off about 9 shots per round and killed at least one model every turn.

I still say you should have been in terrain.
Beating all mounted armies is easy, just don't line up neatly on their lawn.

Very true. However, the objective marker was in the center of a field. It was going to happen eventually, the lining up I mean. In all fairness, we played until one of us broke, and when I broke, he was 1 away from breaking as well. So, it wasn't a complete massacre. I made a few poor tactical decisions (like killing a horse when I should have killed a rider), and I never brought my light infantry in for a charge until it was too late.
