Just axes unfortunately, Anvil have concerns on the fragility of spears in resin. Spears are really easy to make/convert though I'll need to do a tutorial at some point!

I agree, Haradrim are very fun to paint. There is just so much you can do with them. I'm glad that yours are easy to paint, otherwise they can be a bit of a pain to do. I like the color scheme you chose, I think it fits them well. Are you going to paint any jewels on them? I think it might look good at least on any command or hero you paint, just to help differentiate them some more from the rank and file.

Time to resurrect this thread and start posting stuff again!

For now I have resin test casts from Anvil Industry, and some additional fantasy sculpts I'm working on. There's likely to be a few different Fallen Dwarf releases this summer: limited metal releases now going to resin, and new items to flesh out the range...

Yes! I am so happy more of these little chaps are being released. I picked up the army deal from Anvil Industry (very good value!) and was gutted not to get my mits on the metal characters. The spearmen (speardwarves?) look great and I can't wait to see more! Sign me up for some Blue Wizards!

What are the guys carrying the 'arrows'? They look like bolts for a ballista - I'm not sure they make easy-to-use melee weapons?

I think the Fallen Dwarves will stay at 28mm for now, no plans on doing them in heroic style or larger. My main blog has sculpts in lots of different sizes and styles though.

I did go back and forth on the size of the weapons. I couldn't quite size it right, too small and they lacked a punch, too large and they looked silly. This was the 5th or 6th attempt and fell somewhere in the middle. I do want them to appear ceremonial and perhaps not that practical, but people can easily trim or file them down. (I do imagine the cloaks provide stability for the Dwarves as they fight somewhat, twirling around and spinning the weapons with some degree of finesse... for a Dwarf).

Here's a quick and cheerful unit or Haradrim archers. I think these will be my main opponents for the Fallen Dwarves.

Don't get me wrong - I like them, and please consider this my humble opinion and constructive criticism. I just think they need a little tweaking. The main issue for me are the 'fins' at the bottom of the weapons' shafts. To my mind, this would make them almost impossible to swing without chopping your own wrists off. I think changing them into great axes or even maces is the answer - at present the shaft-to-blade size ratio is off a little. Perhaps fashion a pommel at the base of the shafts.

I like the idea of ceremonial weapons, although I think they would still need to be functional. I love the cloaks, by the way - really makes them look of a higher status in their society and puts them above the rank and file!

In any event, I will be picking some up! Keep up the good work.

Ps I hope the flamethrower dwarfs get a friend each to hold their fuel tanks like your original design. I really loved that idea and can imagine a two-dwarf crew making their way down tunnels, burning out goblins. :D

Not at all buddy, your opinion is perfectly valid and you are of course correct in your observations! :)

Folks can clip the bottom of the weapons off if they want, and can call these things anything they want! Giant axe, giant mace, twin pronged stabbing weapon... etc. Or even remove one of the triangular blades and make it a single sided axe. I'm not too previous about it!

The flamethrower guys never really worked as a team in my opinion, cool concept but a flexible pipe or tube between them just seemed a bit out of place, even though this is fantasy! They now each have a little tank on their backs.

I'm hugely supportive of Anvil producing these, it's down to the initial miniatures being popular and people actually buying them. If this new lot works out it will help me continue and finish the range and even do more fantasy stuff in our favourite scale.
