Thanks all.

The armour was done using (All paints are GW Citadel):

Basecoat of Ironbreaker
Liberal wash of Nuln Oil
Sparing wash of Nuln Oil into more recessed areas
Highlight of each plate using Ironbreaker
Very light drybrush of Mithril Silver on raised areas

Hope this helps. I will hopefully have the finished version to show later this weekend.

It's been a while since the last update due to a lack of a computer rather than a lack of activity.

I have now completed Erkenbrand and I am pleased with the results. I enjoyed putting some effort into this model:

I've also started some Minas Tirith warriors. I've finished 9 so far and have 3 to complete which I am currently on with. I thought these looked a bit 'boring' to paint but I've really enjoyed them so far, especially doing the armour.

Is it bad that I can read that without the translation?

I made my niece a lego beach cake this year, she loved it. I bet Harry was over the moon.

ps: love your nags. Paint schemes please?

Long time no post. April has been very busy for me but I have made some hobby progress. Thanks for all the comments above.

@GKA - I'm not sure what colours I used for the horse. I tend not to write down the colours for horses as I don't need such a uniform look. From memory for Erkenbrands I used XV88, washed with Seraphim Sepia and highlighted up using Balor Brown. Hope this helps :)

I have been making a bit of terrain including flocking two 2'x4' boards which look so much better than the plain wood. I've also made my first hill from Styrofoam as shown below. Plus a bonfire from some spare bits and a rock formation using a piece of found lava. I've also been busy assembling and preparing a lot of models, I've gone a bit overboard with purchases recently.

I've also finished off the warband of Warriors Of Minas Tirith. I'm really pleased with how these have turned out.

The rest of the month has been spent working on Bolg. This seems to have taken ages to paint but I love the model and is worth the effort. This is intended for the painting competition so any pointers before the deadline would be appreciated. Still to be based but I think I finished the painting. Apologies for the poor quality photos:

Thanks guys. I'm pleased the skin tines were noticed as I seemed to spend ages on them. I think this is the longest I have dedicated to a model (well 2 as I did them simultaneously). A couple of finished pictures below with some more on the hobby challenge thread as I've entered him in the April challenge.

After spending so long on Bolg I've gone back to some Uruk Hai. I'm currently working on some Scouts but I finished Ugluk a couple of days ago. The results of Ugluk are below and should finish the first batch of 4 Scouts this weekend. Then I will think about something from the Kingdoms of Men for the painting challenge (possibly Faramir!).

Reasonably pleased with Ugluk but doesn't feel anything 'special'.

I don't think this is a figure to do anything special with. The sculpt is not the best out there.
That said I think you've done a nice job on the armour, some blue in the shadows would create depth and a touch of yellow mixed with your skin colour for some highlights.

Thanks guys. I've completed 4 Uruk Hai Scouts now, results below. I'm pleased with the overall look of these and they should look OK on the tabletop. Next up I'm using the painting challenge as an excuse to paint Faramir.

Uruk scouts are really well done - the pair on the extreme right and left of the second image look as if they are about to charge out of the screen directly at the viewer. That's a wee bit scary (loads BAZ00KA).

Below is my entry into the painting challenge. The quality of the entries in the last few months have been phenomenal. I am enjoying pushing my skills as a result of entering the challenges. I was really pleased with my last effort (Bolg) and although Faramir is not as 'interesting' a model I think the results are a little better than Bolg. As always suggestions for areas of improvement are always welcome.

I agree, better than Bolg. Some of your blending is very good, you are clearly starting to get to grips with it.
Face is very smooth. The cloak has been done very, very good. You won't see many better on this site.
Looks like you drybrushed the top of the arrows ? No need for drybrushing, you have the skill to paint it properly.
The tree could do with a couple more coats, it looks a little transparent.
Leather looks nice, check my Bombur tutorial for ways in weathering leather. Another couple of highlights would also help the leather.
Use a Matt varnish to take away the sheen.
I am very impressed with the progress you are making, you are clearly pushing yourself which is brilliant to see. I look forward to more great work from you.

Gandalf - Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated as always. I have not yet found a technique I am happy with for arrows but will keep trying.

I can't believe it's been nearly a month since my last update. I don't seem to achieved much in June but in the time I've had I've managed to complete Mauhur and 8 Scouts which will be entered into the painting challenge. There will be more photos on the challenge thread but a selection is below:

And one with the rest of the warband I painted earlier:

Not as much time spent on all these per model as I spent on Faramir but I am pleased with how they look as a unit. As always feedback and C&C welcome.
