Despite how the final product was released, I am actually very happy that GW released a non-warrior human centric militia (IE lake town). Before the release of the Hobbit, I was thinking of building a Bree-land militia. Now I don't have to. I admit, that Bard is going to be the only official GW lake towner I buy (and probably the only Hobbit line mini I purchase), I am pleased they made the profiles available.

Having never seen them on the table, and only looking at their profiles, I imagine an all lake town army would be a sad site to see. However, has anyone used them before? I know they are cheap (point wise) and IMO they are worthless without Bard, does anyone else have any input?

Oh, and since I am talking about Lake town, what makes Alfid so good? I have never seen his special rules. Can someone break them down for me?

Alfrid is extremly strong. He allows you to roll a D6 for a hero close to you (costs him one W):

Depending on what you roll the hero has a good chance of gaining some extra Might points. It's a very good reward/risk ratio.

Edit: Dr Grant

As for the Militia: I think that they are quiet strong in combination with an other army. Erebor dwarves with shield in the first line, Militia with spear in the second line might be very strong (2A, D7, 15 Pts.)

Hi guys

Please remember it's against forum rules to post full versions/explanations of the special rules etc. on the website, I've edited Badner's post above to the sort of thing that is acceptable. Please avoid this in the future.

As for Laketown, they can be very strong, particularly in combination with the new bard. They're so cheap that it's incredibly easy to horde them out quickly, I've seen 36 spammed alongside Gandalf, Saruman and Galadriel to great effect. Bard's large banner range effectively gives them 2 attacks each and his Fight value buff means they're tied with orcs, men etc.

One warband of Militia led by a captain? Nothing to worry about.

3 warbands of Militia to massively up your break point surrounded by all sorts of other stuff and buffed by Bard? Hideous.

Oh,

I am sorry. I thought that this rule does only mean that it is not allowed to post a complete profiles.

No need to apologise, it's an easy mistake to make.

It's a grey area as we all discuss rules and tactics every day but a general rule is simply to never post direct and complete versions of specific rules if possible.

No harm done :-)
