very nice, I used the same technique with my guards. Purple is a really nice color to use with gold armor.

I never thought of that, most unlike me and thanks for getting my head back in its offset track.

Seriously appreciate all the feedback, it's great to have such a positive responce to what has taken a bit of effort and thought to achieve.

I am writing a SBS for this which I will update on my blog, hopefully in the next week.

If I get the time I will add some freehand to the cloak, but for now I'm concentrating on the banner bearer, then the base.

I've been cracking on of late and nearly got the banner bearer finished and started work on the base. I may even get this one finished in time.
If I do get these done and look to some freehand on the Captains cloak.

Great work on both the NMM and the cloth blending (as usual). The only thing I would say (and this is entirely personal preference) is that the green on the banner somehow doesn't sit so well with the rest of the miniature?

I think your right, maybe a touch darker could do the trick and blending in a touch of purple may help to bring this in line.
I will see if I get chance as time is against me and I've the base to finish first.
My thoughts on some freehand seem to be out the window as we have just started fostering a little one who isn't a month old yet, here's to more sleepless nights
