Hi everyone,

So from my introduction thread I had someone saying they would like to see my large collection of models and I'd assume anythign else I may be doing.

I will be posting pictures of my current armies to pictures of new projects that are taking up my time :)

So to start off I will share with you the start of my small Angmar force beginning with the Mordor Orcs.

To add a bit of variation to these guys I did a few head swaps, weapon swaps and creating new helmets for those that I was never too fond of.

Image

I did the same with those that were armed with spears too !
Image
Image
Image

Next is my counts as Buhrdur, it was an un assembled metal mordor troll on ebay for £16 ! What a steal. I think at the moment he needs a little something extra but I'm not sure yet any ideas ?
Image
Image

And now for past projects, I finally got my Easterling Kataphracts for Christmas to complete a part of my Easterling force so here they are just waiting to be based.
Image
Image

As well as actual models I did my first ever terrain piece, but the foliage is falling off the trees in a bad way, I need some advice on sealing them to the tree. I was thinking watered down PVA ?
Image

Well that was a bit of a heavy first post but I hope you like,

All the best
Silver.

Excellent work. I may have to steal that idea of converting the 2-hander Orcs into extra swords/spears

Some nice conversions. I love converting Mordor orcs, have done a great many of them myself and still many more in the back log to get too. It always pays to try to reduce the clones.

Work on the lighting for your color pictures, easterlings are shadowed out a bit to see how your painting is coming along.

Troll looks great.

Hey thanks for the kind words guys :) I shall get better pictures of my Easterlings for you, I think the light was too far away when I was taking them.

I have to say I loved converting them up, simple to do and yet very effective and everything kind of fits together really well too :)

The new crest on the Troll works really well, something to think about if I pick up another.

I notice some of the red looks rather pink, I think that may just be a setting on my camera not sure though.
Also managed to get better pictures of my Kataphracts as well

I also have done my first Spectre which is a fallen Elendil, I kinda like the effect I got going on, what do you guys think ?

Great stuff. Some of the Orc pics are a bit dark (particularly the first one), but I can make out looks very good, and the conversions are neat. The ghostly Numenorean King is great too.

Yeah I think I need to tinker with my camera settings a little more it's almost there :) But thanks I think the spectres will be the most fun to paint, and then maybe the troll.

A few things to check on the camera:

White Balance; you usually set this according to the lighting, it should have options for daylight, clouded, indoor ect.

ISO: Basically, set this as low as possible. I don't know what it does exactly, but the lower it is, the more it brings out your colours.

Possibly try a darker background, it sounds counterproductive but something darker minis work best against black.

Excellent conversion and paint job, though I have one minor criticism. It could do with the highlights going almost towards white at the extreme edges of the blue. Would make it stand out better.

The fallen Ellendil looks fantastic, It's really hard to paint spectres/wraiths well like that, but you have done a brilliant job!

Well hello there :)

It's update time, so where to start ?
Well My Orc Spearmen are now fully painted and join the basing line however I am not sure if I will do them now or wait until my Troll is Painted then batch base them. Anyways pictures ! ( I think i managed to correct my camera better for some better photos.)
Image
Image
Image

They're still a little dark but much better than before I think.

So onto the side project, I recently discovered my favourite Elven hero Gil-Galad could ride an armoured horse ! So I obviously had to knock up my own conversion.

So I ordered myself the armoured Elladan model as he was the closest in terms of armour and cloak to Gil-Galad. So first off I'll show you guys the model I am basing the conversion off.

Image

So as you can see I put a helmet on him as I really do not like the models face and position of his head, it looks rarther dull and boring, so on to the conversion !
Image
Image

So as you can see I have widened his cloak to look more like the original model, I've replaced the head and added some chainmail on his legs. I have also removed the sword and drilled a hole for his spear to go into.

Whats left is sculpting the armour on his lower arms to be more like the banded armour, add his shield to his back, add banded armour to the horse, and obviously add his spear !

So I hope you guys like this update and stay tuned for more goodness.

Looks great! I am not fan of the original Gil-Galad head. The helmet suits him nicely.

So I have been working none stop on my Gil-Galad model and he is finished, maybe just a few nips and tucks here and there to neaten him up but he is pretty much done.

I am very excited to start painting him, Should be a very striking model on the field !

I have also begun to paint up the Troll of mine so very early stages yet.

That's all for now folks :)

Good stuff! The troll's flesh looks great, and Gil-Galad has come together very nicely indeed. Any plans for a warband of Rivendell Knights to lead? (not strictly 'legal', unless you give them a hero of their own, but potentially so awesome I would imagine many people would happily play it!)

The conversions have turned out nicely.
Use hairspray to stabilize the flock on the trees.
