Just read through this thread, and it's impressive work. I like your rather subtle style, and everything looks great!

I really like your work on the dwarves including their bases which add a nice finishing touch.

out of curiosity, how did you make Thorin's base? What material did you use? looks very nice.

Thanks for the comments all. I'm actually super pleased with how he's come out. My first proper forecast mini I've painted up. Tempted now to get young Balin and Dwalin!

I had a spare set of plastic ruins that I figured would give the affect of a smashed up Erebor. I almost enjoy the basing stage as much as the painting!

Nice metal work. The skin tone on the face is perfect too.

Thanks! I've been finding this sculpt a little tricky at times to paint. Not always easy to work out the detail. I found the standard plastic Grim Hammers much easier to get paint on.

I just finished up with my final Grim Hammer. All that's left is to base him up.
Funnily enough I think I enjoyed painting this one the most. Such a good pose, probably my favourite of the bunch.

Hopefully get some full army shots soon ish...

I'd quite like to get hold of some more for conversions, but what I'm most keen for right now are some Iron Hill dwarves for them to fight alongside!!

Thanks again for all the comments.

This pose was also my favourite. Maybe add a sepia or diluted brown wash on the metal work to break it up a little. Lot of metal on these guys isn't there?

Nice work. I've just primed a GrimHammer captain this morning and I am looking forward to getting stuck into him this weekend (hopefully!!). I really enjoyed painting the GrimHammers. I like the scheme you've gone for and the captain has that 'veteran battle hardened look'. What have you got up next?

A hell of a lot of metal yes! Made a change from painting the gold armour of the Galadhrim though.
I reckon I will give him a run over with a wash yeah, just to break things up like you said.

Nice one, look forward to seeing your take on him!
Up next for me will probably be continuing the siege of my Elven cavalry. Still got so many white horses to get through! They take an age.
I also need to put some finishing touches to my warriors of Erebor.
More pics coming soon...

if you want to add a wash, maybe try something else than a GW wash. It seems you already have washed it. Maybe try glazing a reddish or bluish color into the recesses, like I did with my latest galadhrim, with the blue. It looks cool and adds a nice finish to the armor.

Just a suggestion, still looks great

Thanks for the tip man. I would love to be able to pull things off such as glazing etc, need to learn these techniques! I shall give it a daring attempt...

It's really easy, just get a nice color.

For my blue, I used GW's necron abyss. Just get a ratio of like 3:1 water:paint, then load your brush, then wipe off most of it. Then apply it to the armor, and paint towards the recesses. It's that simple, over several layers, you will definitely see the color come out.
