You sir have done some mighty fine work on that elf. I thinks its one of the best models GW made for lotr and one of the hardest to do justice to. You ought to put up a step by step tutorial in the tomes of wisdom, such fine style should not go unduplicated.

Sure I will! Today I repainted the armour again ( yes again ) . This is the third time I did that. The reason is I saw it too dark for an elf, so I decided to give it a more brighter style. Not too different, but I think the change has been for the good. Also give the face a little less contrast, same reason, the shadows were too dark for the face of an elf.

It's starting to stand out that I'm a Isengard/Mordor painter :D

I have another mate already basecoated and will post an image with both the bowmen and the swordmen.

Then, when I'm 100% satisfied with the models I will post the guide. But be aware I'm using dozens of paints!

Trying another colour scheme, I have to admit I prefer this one:

Lovely, simply lovely. So natural it looks almost effortless, if only that was the case.

Almost finished now, just need to work a little bit on the base. Unfortunately the model fell while I was painting. It seems like next time I will leave some space without leaves on the base so it stick better on the ground.

Some pictures with close up:

what paints did you use for the armour and helm? Love that shiny brass look.

Base: 50% Leadbelcher 50% Sycorax Bronze
Add a bit of Gehenna's Gold to the mix and highlight.
Then a wash of black ink + green ink. I would say 80 % black and 20% green, otherwise it looks too greeny.

Then highlight with auric gold armour and then finally an extreme highlight of runefang steel.

I finished the base on the armoured galadhrim and started a wood elve with a similar color scheme. The cape is the same blue ( It turned out a bit darker ) and the armour is also silver. It's still WIP.

I'm not sure about the green along with the blue...

And I think the protections would be better in leather :-X

What do you think?

Lovely job on these, again the basing really finishes them off.

It really does. There's something missing without the base.

I'm glad you like. I, however, don't see it. Two bright colours in the same wood elf, too much for me. I will maybe try with a darker green, something similar to catachan, even mixed with grey will be fine. The cape is almost restricted to dark blue so it's the same as the armoured galadhrim.

Anyway, I'm actually working on another two galadhrim:

Image

I'm trying to push the contrast as much as I can on the blue, which is actually looking great. The elven armour is another history. I could give it a dark look, and then start highlighting, but with that the armour will look too dark. So in this case, what I'm doing is giving the armour not so much contrast, but a very shiny finish. I really think this is the way to paint an elven armour, even one from 3rd age.

There's many more in the way 8)

I have almost painted an entire warband of elves. Only 4 of them are actually completed.

You may noticed I have came back to the golden look.

Lovely, nothing beats Haldir's elves to me when they're all painted up, especially to the quality you have done.
