Is it needed to stick to a plan for eacht month, A wanted to do thorins comp and a mumak, but feel it is more thematic to swap the mumak for goblin town units. so does it work this way :
Each month I decide what to paint.. ?

if not, where can/should I post my plan to which I commit myself for this year ?

Alright, settled on Arnor, one of the rarer sub-factions, but some interesting models and potential.

Here is my starter shot for this month, a company of Warriors of Arnor.

Greetings, fellow hobbyists!

This is the first post documenting my participation in the Tale of 20 painters. I have chosen to build an Eregion/Elrond's Household army, so I decided to begin with a good block of infantry to get this army started. Infantry are hard for me, because there are so many, which have to be churned out, while still maintaining a decent quality. Here is a picture of the current state of this first warband:

Image

Out of that pile, I plan to have painted a warband consisting of 12 High Elf Warriors (4 with Elven Blade, 4 with Elf Bow, and 4 with Spear & Shield). That means that by the end of this month, my army will total a whopping 128 points. I know, it's a lot, but be patient. By the end of this year, it's going to be an army to be reckoned with!

Great to see some enthusiasm for this already.

You are free to decide what you paint each month as you go along so there no need to plan in advance.

Proof Pic. They will hopefully resemble some Black Numenorian's once done. I dont much like the GW sculpts as to me they dont look like men.

Nice to see people are already proceeding full steam ahead. I'm still waiting for a package of Wood Elves (Warriors, Command and Sentinels) to arrive. Next week, hopefully.

I'm building a Mirkwood elf army and my plan is to add some meanies from around Mirkwood as a secondary army as their opponent. My gaming situation is such that I don't have any serious opponents who would collect and paint miniatures, but several of my friends are happy to come and play since I can provide the gaming place and miniatures. Therefore I always need both good and evil troops for any scenario or setting.

This will also be affected by Christmas. My wife has often bought me some miniatures for Christmas and if I get some nice new troops from the Battle of Five Armies, I will think how to integrate them into this challenge.

Can't wait to get started! :-)

For my Tale there is one theme that I will keep for al 12 months, all mini's will be 'the Hobbit' related. Since I have those mini's but did not make time to paint them, becouse older Lotr projects where in the way.

Well before a Make A start on thorins company, I will make a start on the nasty creatures they encounter down. down down in..... :
Goblin Town

I hope to find a colour scheme that makes them look a bit more like moria goblins instead of victims of middle earths black death. I dislike the pinkskinned 'sick' look PJ gave them.
well the proof pic : Image

For the next month I plann to do either some heroes of the company or 3 heroes from goblin town : the king, grinnah and the mini captain.
brings me to one question : It is aloud to do more caracters per month then one ? some are more easy then others, escp. with the goblins.

Good Luck to all, I am looking forward to all the finished pics :-)

I am doing these up.
Time crunch. Started them ages ago. There are a bunch more than these.
But I am only going to paint these two. I know they are sorta' started.
Final photograph will be far superior.

I need to get myself in gear. I was in the middle of painting Dwalin at the beginning of the month, and then got distracted by painting some of my Zombicide! berzerkers. Also, I needed to make a quick trip to the game shop to pick up some paints. As it is, my Elves are clipped from the sprue, mould lines removed and glued to their bases. I'm going to get them based and primed tomorrow in hopes of getting some quality painting done this weekend.

@ Pasi -- Yes, Zombies. I've got the Zombicide! board game and I've been playing it a lot recently with some of the other men from my church. Like a dummy, I decided we needed painted zombies and survivors. Haha. I'll have to post some pics over in the not-LotR forum.

Like what you've done here Paul, very rugged finish to them, fitting of wraiths out in the wild.

Sadly been extremely busy this month and couldn't do the painting i want.

I will try some speed painting this weekend and hope to finish my entry to continue better in the following months.

I will go on with easterlings. The picture is from earlier this month and the models are slightly converted (nothing special, just changed the position of weapons to some.

Image

hope its not to late to post my entry for this month :(

I love the basing! The painting is also very well done, in particular the neatness of the shields.
