Nice work. The pine needle fence was a good idea.

I like the one with the whip who is leading the warg pack! Nice idea. Thematic and successfully made!!

It took me awhile to finally buy the new White Council set as I really didn't like the figures and it was too expensive. But when I could get it 25% off I bought it mainly because I wanted an unarmed Elrond. Needed the unarmed Elrond for Lindir to give council to.

Shaved the underside of Elrond so he stood up straighter, cut off his left arm and rotated it so the sleeve hung correctly and then added an index finger.

Work in progress, this is just a dry fit on how I want it to look. will not use the current background terrain. Need to figure out how to do a elvish tower/dome and put the whole thing on a small hill with stairs leading up to it.

Elrond indicating to Lindir where to increase patrols with the increased orc activity in the area.

Awesome. Love the tweaks to Elrond, and the terrain backdrop is too cool. Can't wait to see this all finished up!

Thanks, I think just making Elrond stand up straighter improved the model.

Have to clean up my area some, can't do much or make a big mess. Couldn't stand looking at the partial Rohan settlement I'm working on though so I added to it. :-D

I love your work. The little wagon with your working materials is a nice bit of comic relief

Nice work. It is the small things that often make the difference. The shields add a lot to the background. The pine needle fence is still my favorite.

Thanks OmW, been admiring your work on this site and on the Hirst Arts forum for awhile. I liked making the mold for the shields as I was making a piece of stonework vs a shield so I didn't have to worry about the thickness (or thinness) of the finished product.

The field has been harvested (followed my own advice and bought a clean mat), the buildings have been built (last to complete was the stable, took me awhile to decide on how I wanted it) and I have the extended version of the Desolation of Smaug.

Now that everything is built and I have the movie and all the extras to watch, I can begin thatching the roofs. Still have to base the buildings etc but that I can do later.

Hope to have it done in my spare time before I have to clean for the American holiday of Thanksgiving (Nov 27th) when the hordes of relatives descend to ravish our larder.

Thanks to the extended version and director commentary, I was able to complete the messy part and can clean up my area to a reasonable size. Didn't do much during the film and extras as I was too busy watching it but could work during the commentary as I could just listen and occasionally watch it.

What started in my mind as a remote watchtower and building/barracks

Image

turned into a small settlement where a former captain of the guard decided he liked the area and stayed

Image

An overall picture, the small lookout tower, the entrance to Rohan which I made when I didn't do the building/barracks correctly, and the settlement.

Image

Still need to base the individual buildings (might base the three buildings of the settlement as one), build more fences and decide how I want the overall board to look.

But at least now I can do some painting as my mind works on that.

I love the attention to detail on these buildings. That large watchtower is particularly cool :D
