From the other OneRing website: https://www.facebook.com/TheOneRingnet/ ... 21/?type=1. Do you think this means GW will give us a new Azog model complete with armor, or will they just force us to be content with what we have?

Maybe. They may just FAQ it an not make a model though, knowing them. But that's definately heavy armour, and a D7 Azog would be a bit op

Hopefully we'll get it. I've been thinking on all the revised profiles we'll need - Galadriel needs banishment, Thranduil needs a stag, and armour along with Thorins company and Azog. Potentially we'll need a new Necromancer profile (depending on how that plays out in the movie, of course - but IIRC there's an unused 'evil' spell in the rulebook that could be a fit.) Bard may need armour too, and Bolg might need to be revised to cover his bow, morgul arrows and warg.

I'm pretty confident we'll be really pleased with what's coming next year (though the weekly release schedule leaves me to think it'll be more spread out than the huge dump we had the last two years), so fingers crossed there's room for all the re-do's of characters too. There's a bit of a difference between giving us a slight pose variant ala all the gandalf and bilbos, and actual wargear upgrades. And GW would be aware of this.

We have seen most of the dwarves in new Armor, We have seen Thranduil in armor...So I think the leader of Heavy armored orcs should have a chance at armor. it should not make him OP, and since dwarves will soon have cav, and even more elves (including whatever the elk/moose does) I think it is WAY to soon to start being negative about a single evil model getting armor. I am sure there will be more surprises on the evil side than on the good, since we have seen most of the cast of the good side and what they can do, but not all of what the necromancer has planned.

Doesn't really look like heavy armour to me. A breastplate and some fur-lined shoulder pads does not really strike me as equivalent to what usually works as heavy armour in the game. His arms are all undefended, for a start. Defence 6 would be sufficient to render Azog much more survivable, but not make him unstoppable to all but luck. I do like the lobster claw sword he has now too - apparently Azog has a collection of different prosthetic limbs for different purposes. Maybe one ends in a ladle, for those knights where he fancies a nice bowl of broth.

And Sithious, you're dead on about the evil side being e surprises for this movie - we can make solid guesses at dwarves, elves and men, but will we really have to rely on resin orcs for the big battle? Doubtful. And Dol Guldur has been kept entirely underwraps, so there's so much room for weird and wonderful stuff. Hobbit so far has been very good centric, perhaps it's fitting that here, closest in timeline to the war of the ring, Evil gets to cut loose.

Well this took me by surprise! Pretty nice! The change of his arm is also interesting and far more menacing.

Having Azog decked up makes a lot of sense, since he isnt' scouting and hunting, but actually leading an army. Most of the other generals have armour; Thranduil and Thorin, so why not Azog?

I hope he gets a new model(plastic please) and D7, Bolg has D7 and wears pretty much less armour. However, just like Beard-Bolg this seems like a last second change and this makes it hard for GW to make a miniature anytime soon. I'm still waiting for the new Bolg.

It definitely is a late change as in the trailer when he has no armor and his fork arm he is standing on the same rock. My main concern is with the perry twins gone games workshop had in their mind finished up the hobbit range, leaving any late changes out. It would be a shame because an armoured azog figure would be awesome and for those looking to recreate the battle of five armies the old azog will not do.

Ultimately it depends on how early these things were finalised. Marketing like this has to go through a lengthy approval process, and the design itself will have to have been finalised way before then. We just don't know why it was different in the earlier trailers.

If it is a last minute change again, then that would be disappointing. But the Perry's only left 3 months ago (so there's a chance that this could have been one of the last things on their plate, depending on when they got concept art and previews), not to mention that they aren't the only sculptors to have worked on the hobbit range, only the most notable.

That sword attachment looks stupid on his arm. Way worse than the claw.

I would assume that the design for this would have been approved several months ago. Bolg's design wasn't really changed that last minute, he was just taken out about last minute. There was a relatively long time for him design to change. In any case, I just hope that GW has the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings property go out with a bang, rather than a whimper. A big release with a new version of Thorin and Azog (hopefully with heavy armor and some kind of rule for his new bladed arm and maybe an armored version of the White Warg). A big ol' Dain model on a big ol' Boar and armored up Thranduil on his armored up stag would be amazing. The cherry on top would be new plastic troops for each faction.

It's not my favorite, but I don't like the claw, either. The claw is too thin and looks too much like a fireplace poker to me. When I get my Azog, he'll definitely have some sort of conversion on that arm.

uuuugh... while i enjoy the look of him like this, I'm not too sure about the sword arm. I'l have to see it in action before making a judgement. however, this will probably mean buffing Azog even more - extra attack for the sword equip? heavy armour? Armoured white Warg?. why not give him magical powers and the ability to summon the dead too? round it all off at 400 points!

Additional wargear, along the lines of Armour I'm cool with but that sword arm, just screams trying too hard

I sure hope so. For one, Im not a fan of the old model and Ive been wanting a newer one, and that just looks bad to the bone.
