There is nothing like a bit of male bonding to curdle your coffee in the morning.

I must admit however that I have to agree.

I also asked for Fathers Day(yet to get however) one of those cases to keep all of my junk in.
At least I might be able to have all of my stuff looking like 'DurinsBanes' even if I cannot actually make anything like him.

One thing I do need to ask is where did you get your tweezers from (please do not say the wife) The only ones I can find are quite large and shaped like crocodille clips, great for holding onto the models when painting, usless for picking anything up. My first attempts with it were pants so I had to revert to my 4lb sausage fingers instead.

I could go on about how the courage to express admiration openly actually requires a lot of courage and just goes to show how manly I am, but I'll leave that for another time (there's sure to be one).

Ah Alan...
If you look closely at the lid of the box, it has a series of moulded right angles that when closed, hold the compartment trays in place.

This however is not secure enough and the box is kept horizontal at all times, as carrying the case as it is intended, would result in materials mixing with each other.
The case (from my point of view) is not intended to carry materials from one place to another, rather just to house them. The box has its own place within my hobby area.
So, if anyone is wanting to buy these boxes to 'transport' materials...DONT !

I have one question. How do you attach the mini to the base then? Its just that I don't understand how the process goes. Should you stick your modelling sand onto the base first with the mini, and then just undercoat the whole thing and continue from there? Or should you paint the model first, and then leave the basing till last, and if so....how do you do this without accidently brushing off the sand when your colouring it?

A very good question and the answer is simply it is down to individual taste.

The article was written in the style of removing the sprue from the feet of the miniature and attaching with superglue.
However...
if you are going to be gaming, this is not ideal as you need your miniatures to have some strength to stand up to the vigours of the gaming table.

For this, I would suggest attaching the 'unpainted' miniature first, complete with sprue. Build your base around the miniature and over the sprue.
Undercoat the entire piece.
Paint the base first before starting work on the miniature itself.



Once you have glued sand to a base, let it dry thoroughly, dont try to rush things. Once dry, take a large brush and brush off all the loose particles before you attempt to paint it.
To be honest, I never use sand, its a nightmare product to work with as the particles are too fine, instead, I use fine talus (see below)
