What sort of paints, textures and foliage do you use to create bases? I'm looking to improve on mine a little, especially for dark mud/forest bases and barren mordor like land. Some of you get super-reslistic results, I'm curious to the different methods and products.

I cannot give you detailed instructions because I am not sure if what I know will magically work. But one thing I found really useful when I learned is that ove mud bases use unmixed deluted bleached bone. It gives superb results.

Due to me being a total cheapskate I tend to use free/cheap materials such as dried used tea leaves, dried used coffee grains, sand and birch seeds that resemble miniatures leaves. The results aren't Golden Demon worthy but I reckon that they look realistic and muted enough to tie in with my army, I'll try to upload photos once I work out how.

My brother also uses tea leaves and coffee grounds. Saw dust and sand also works well.
