Welcome to the June Painting Challenge. This months subject is........

Image

This challenge will be a 3 miniature challenge.

Your three entries do not have to be from the same corresponding force should you not wish them to be. For instance Gandalf the Grey, Thorin Oakenshield and the Goblin King would be acceptable.

Any problems post or PM me for confirmation.

1. To enter the painting challenge, the miniatures you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniatures 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible.

2. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of June 30th 2014. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 4 photos per model plus one group shot please, this allows you to show your miniatures off from front, back and each side which is more than enough. If you would like to compile more than one pictures into one file it is ok to do that

3. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to reduce their backlog and improve their painting skills.

4. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.

Good luck to all!

Does the model have to come from the EFGT box? for instance, could i paint old Bilbo, a LOTR Gandalf or the metal Radagast?

There I am, painting my goblins the whole time and now this comes along...
Doesn't matter, my painting isn't good enough anyway. Excited to see the entries for this one.

I'm not sure I get it, can any 3 minis from the Hobbit range be entered?

Could I in theory enter 3 warriors of Erebor?

The challenge is to paint 3 miniatures that have some association with goblin town. Thorins company, Goblins, Goblin King etc etc

Just to be sure: would it be allowed to enter 3 converted (Moria) Goblins? The way I converted them is much closer to how I envisioned them from reading the book (most important change being chain mail instead of overlapping plates). :)

Pity this is a three mini-challenge.. I had only one suitable for Goblin Town in my backlog (Gollum). In case you want to see it anyway, you can find it here: viewtopic.php?p=371468#p371468

You mean that day, when he formed an alliance with the Goblin King and Suladan? ^^

Haha just went to set the voting thread up and realised there was only one entry. Well done James, A great entry just a shame it had no one to go up against.

Congrats James, I've said this to you in person but it really is a superb conversion painted incredibly well. It's a shame no-one else entered but you clearly scared off all the competition! Bizarre to see such a drop of in entrants though, perhaps the theme was too specific?
