Ok! Due to tube strikes I think I'd better pop this up now rather than tweak for 2 days and miss the deadline- I only photograph at work, and Wednesday might not happen

all done with my model!
unfortunately I added too much matte varnish on the piece and now it has a glossy look

Wow. The month has really gotten away from me. Time for another speedpaint attempt. Hopefully I manage to finish this one, but the number of non-finishes (and non-starts) I've done mean it could go either way.

Finished!

He's a little plain, but he's Gandalf the Grey, so...

I rarely manage to do it, but there's something especially rewarding about finishing a figure in a day. Or in this case, 2 days. Regardless, a lot nicer than my usual, which is months or even years to finish figures.

My previous attempt to paint a Gandalf model petered out and the model hasn't been touched since 2010..

Thank you! I really like the model, but his face is so friendly compared to the epic footed version. I had plans to make him look angrier, but the expression is quite strongly sculpted, and my attempts to "moody" him up just looked odd.

Amazing entries all around

I needs to get hold of a new camera. Had to use my iOS cam and empty tissue box here (lightbox broke after TWO uses). Anyway, can't see how I'm to compete with some fantastic entries. Here's Gildor:

Tried to achieve an Elven looking cloak by mixing in a metallic paint with the highlights.
