I love the autumnal colors of the rangers; a very interesting choice! I can imagine them blending perfectly amidst the golden trees of Lothlorien.

Well, well, well.

It has been a long time.... two days since I last posted something here.
This will be just a post containing only a few pictures. :(

My goal is to finish this army:
Click to: Show
Thranduil the Elvenking
9 Palace Guards

Tauriel
9 Mirkwood Rangers

And Bilbo Baggins with Sting and the One Ring

before the 5th of April (less then two weeks, that is).

That means: -Finishing Tauriel, Finishing Bases, Finishing the Objective marker, Finishing 9 other Elves and Finishing Bilbo Baggins.

Bilbo (three pictures, never mind the right eye (his right), it has been fixed):

Tauriel (again, natural lighting):

Rangers (again, natural lighting):

Objective marker (just the start):

That's it for today.

Comments and Questions are welcome!

Was Biblo's right eye messy because of the sculpt? If yes, then I am very curious as to how you corrected it.

A clever idea for an elven objective marker, your fellow players are lucky; how did you make the tree?

I will reiterate: your rangers' palette is superb! My criticism pertains to Tauriel's skin tone; it seems too dark for a female elf.

Well well well, hasn't it been a long time since I posted something!

And to you, I present Beorn: the Skin-changer!

Oh, and.. I am aware of the minor errors of the model, some of which I only discovered when I started the painting progress.
Somewone on a dutch forum pointed it out as a result of torment from the Nortern Orcs. :)

Beorn:

And a small Thranduil preview (the second version, blue):

So, that''s it today.

I'm eager for questions or comments!

Time for Tauriel, again. But she is now finished, completely.

The base has been painted and based. The tree trunk has been painted!

Here she is:

You have done some nice work here and a good basis to move forward. Your paints in general look slightly thick, make sure you water them down more and look to applying several coats. This is going to help the definition and your blending.
Tauriels right thigh is dark at the highest point and needs to be a lot lighter.
Thranduil's cloak is ready to be shaded a lot more. You can put some really dark colours in to get the contrast.
Above all though, remember the thinned paints an building those layers up.

Thank you.
And thank you for the advice. And I am working more and more with thinned paints, it really helps giving more depth.

Was the back wound in Beorn part of the model or did you put that in?

The back wound is actually a part of the model.

Thank you!

And I am right now working on them. But, about the rangers, it is hard to find a good way to paint them. I've got some new ideas though, will be used when I've got myself another box of them, probably two. (that means about 10 or 20 extra rangers)

And I've got a story about my choice of colours for the rangers:

The reason I've picked the brown and green colours is that these nine rangers, and eventually a Mirkwood Ranger Captain, are part of the Mirkwood Ranger Border Guard.

And so, the other 21 Mirkwood Rangers will be part of Tauriel's and Legolas' Warbands who patrol the inner forest!

Also: Finished Beorn. (I mean that I've based him and I have painted his base edge)

Thanks! And the thing is: I was painting Beorn with very thinned down paint!

And that's the way forward. If you had wanted stronger highlights it would be a case of applying more layers.
