These are really great-looking miniatures and I've been meaning to tell you that you have the best battle reports going, hands down. Keep up the awesome work.

That is a lot of elven cavalry - all the better to hunt foul orcs!

Awesome work. Elves look fantastic. Black shields were great, I think I may copy the idea of making another captain head swap like you did.
Keep up the great work.

The conversion was a really easy one, I cut some plastic from a container then used a small amount of green stuff to hold it in place... Cheaper than buying another captain!

And thanks for all the positive comments, I love this hobby and writing the battle reports too :-)

They look so good I could eat them... a bunch of those and some Rivendell knights would make a great looking team for running the wargs ragged.

Bilbo looks great - though I cannot help but think of BotWT when I see that sculpt.
I like your Woses. Was that 12 Woses for Valentine's Day then? :)

I thought their second album (Hanging with Ma Beeches) wasn't as good at the first one (Where Ma Birches At?). Rap just isn't the musical medium for Ents, given how long it takes them just to say 'Good Morning'.....

I am a sarcastic git :)

Back on topic:- ENTS
While each of the plastic ents is fine as an individual piece (well put together, nicely painted and based), you also varied the paint palette and foliage on each of them, and you have posed them all slightly differently, they are still very similar. It is a perennial problem for all of us that like the big woody guys. I am lucky enough to have snagged a bunch of Majestic Bear and Thomarillion large possibly wooden entities, as well as Treebeard and one of these plastics. I am thinking about adding more plastics but ONLY if I can make them very recognisably different.
Now here is the weird part. You have managed to differentiate those three even though they all come from identical kits. The differences are most notable in the finer detail (especially the colour scheme). The similarities outweigh the differences in the wider picture. In trying to figure out how to overcome that basic overall similarity, I guess that changing the silhouette of the mini becomes a fundamental part of the task. You can do that in a number of ways - in human terms, you could go for the hair-do, ie the branches with foliage. Get some of those railway scenic trees kits where you can assemble the plastic branches into any configuration you please and then apply foliage. You could have any shape of branches (fan, straight, drooping, odd-shaped like a mohawk) and vary the colour and type of foliage.
Other areas that could be targetted are the arms and legs. Shortening or lengthening them slightly, making them thicker overall or giving them a more gnarled appearance, adding some more texture to them - all these are options for anyone out there to try.

So, just a few thoughts and ideas. I know its a bit of a risk hacking up costly kits just to make them look a bit different, but there are some people on O-R who have managed far greater feats than that.

So, in short - well done on your guys (including Treebeard), and maybe you might want to try some of what I have rambled on about above if you get any more ents.

Lol, yes that made me laugh, I think I am done with the ents, I agree, they are not the best and I love Ukfreddies ents, but I got them all cheap and set to work to get them done. Thanks for the comments as always and if I do get some more I shall bear that all in mind!

Laughing is good.
Hey, don't undersell your ents - you have done very well with them so enjoy playing with them and kick those axe-wielding fire-making orcs clean off the gaming table.
(that is one of the few occasions when the word clean can appear in the same sentence as orc.)
