Love the conversion! Where did you get the pony from?

Is that one of the Hobbit ponies from the metal set from the Scouring of the Shire?

Think that's Frodo's pony yeah. Great work by the way, those drab colours fit the dwarves well.

Yep, made from a spare hobbit on pony, though which one it was escapes me right now.

Really appreciate all the comments guys, thank you all so much.

Next up: Kili and Fili on ponies!

Those two look great, particularly Kili! He looks like he's about to ride someone down!

Oh - Thorin's entire company on ponies - is that the Cunning Plan? I like it. The first pair look sweet as do the youngsters (they are in their prime... prime - get it? )

Just a little update, albeit not to do with the Tale of Gamers - these are a gathering of extra Erebor warriors.

There's now only one warband and four heroes left to do, and then I shall have an 1000 point army :)

Some really nice and well painted minis here. Loving the conversions for the Dwarfs on ponies. I think I may have to pick myself up a box of these Dwarf warriors when I've got some more of the stuff I have painted.

Cheers

Consistently high quality there - you HAVE to show us a photo of the entire force when it is complete.

Hey buddy, great work on the conversions. Just in case you're looking for more ponies for Dwarves, I know that Ebob makes a 28mm pony for £2 each. It has baggage on its back, but that's an easy conversion for someone who is already doing something along the lines of what you're doing :)

Mark this army looks STUNNING! The bases, the colour scheme, the conversions, it's all absolutely top-class, incredibly impressive and very inspirational. Keep up the cracking work, can't wait to see Fili & Kili when they're done and I hope to meet them on the field of battle at a tournament soon! :yay:

Those dwarves look simply excellent. I love the natural look of the cloth, it gives them a quite norse appearance which is really fitting! What colours did you use for the blonde and light brown hair?

The earthy colours work really well and the basing just finishes them off nicely.

Thanks again for all the comments everyone, it's the response from you guys that really encourages and inspires me to continue on!

Rognarr: I tried a couple of different methods out for the hair, the ones that come to mind being..

Tallarn Sand - Agrax Earthshade - Nuln Oil
Dheneb Stone - Agrax Earthshade

And then highlights of choice 8)

JamesG: I definitely recommend picking up a box of Erebor Warriors. When they first came out I was set against them, but in the flesh the detail is astounding! They're a really fun kit to work with, with plenty of simple-but-effective conversion opportunities as I've hoped to show here.

Dr Grant: Damian, you're far too kind  thank you very much my friend. Kili and Fili have taken a little longer than I'd hoped (bloody Space Wolves distracting me.... ) but they should be up and ready for battle soon enough.

And just for you Dorth, courtesy of Games Workshop Warrington...

(Note to self, must fix that rather yellow-looking beard... :o )

Still to come: Kili, Fili, one more warband of Warriors, and perhaps another mounted hero.. Or two...

Thanks Hurin, glad you like them!

Finally got round to finishing Kili and Fili, just in time for the end of Tale of Gamers month two.

Great work Knighty, you have done these justice with your painting. The bases are first class and the castle walls in the background look fantastic, nothing to critique !!!
