Good luck to anybody working on putting the finishing touches (or so I hope, time is running out to do more than that) on their entries. Looking forward to seeing the results!

Great job on that troll mertaal, bit of a boring mini (mostly skin and leather), but you really brought him to live with that base (and that face of course). Think the wood could use a bit more work and differentiation, it's pretty close in colour to the mud and leather, and especially the branch in his hand seems mostly brown with a dark shiney wash, instead of terrific shading as on the skin.

That Necromancer turned out very nicely too JamesR, must say that I had my doubts with the WIP, but those proved unfounded! The tone you've chosen for the armour fits very nicely, but the base is a bit.. grey.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

@Coenus- Yes sir it is, but I'm planning on entering him and the Hobbit Gandalf at Dol Guldor for the Diorama challenge so I just want it to match the floor there

Then I withhold further judgement and look forward to that diorama! :gandalf:

Loving the Sauron, in fact I have a spare one knocking around so may well attempt something similar, thanks for the inspiration :D

JamesR: He turned out really well! I think that's a really hard effect to pull off. Congratulations, I think he looks great.

Hm, do we post final pics in the thread here, or PM/email them to DMS? Yes, I'm way rusty...

Thanks!

Here we go. I'm just happy I managed to get this guy done in about 28 hours from baggie to finished - and most of that being drying time from washes, inks, glue and varnish. Thanks to this comp, I now have another model for the table, and since I can be as slow as all hell to paint, this is a very good thing. :D

In the end I ended up going over a lot of the sculpted (and painted) details, since these details were so soft and often ill-defined. Things like the inner-joint areas of the model just being putty that was dotted for "detail". I'll take the static grass look instead!

Thank you! Anything to cover up the awful "detail" sculpted there. It was a sort of "willow grass as hair" ...thing. :-?

eugh.

Love this huornish/entish creature! The grass gives it a real "ancient" appearance!

Both of your work, DMS and ukfreddybear, never ceases to amaze me! It is just stunning! Simply stunning! :yay: Excellent work guys.

Oh and one question for you DMS - is there a mini on which you don't use the UHU saliva trick? It just seems like your best friend at the minute :-D

Anyway, once again great work guys - I especially love the sculpt :yay:
