Hello The One Ring community!

I've been wanting to get into this hobby for a while, and now I have.

Yay me!

Anyway, I hope someone here likes answering questions because more likely then not I'll be asking some in the next few weeks.

Ok, so my question is does the set always come with one of each Ranger model (I.E. 1 crouching with hood up. 1 crouching with hood down. 1 standing with hood up. and 1 standing with hood down.) or are they randomized like the blisters?

Oh, and does anyone remember how much it cost when it was available?

Welcome to the site Frankie. Captured By Gondor does indeed come with one of each metal ranger pose (4 in total). It was released in March 2003 and originally cost £20.
If you do pick up a set, I recommend hunting down White Dwarf issue 279 on ebay, as it contains a painting guide for the set plus a number of scenarios for them.

Thanks Freddy, great to be here.

And thanks a bunch for the info, everything I needed to know and more.

I looked it up and according to Tabletop_heroes website the painting guide on the set is from page 122 to 125. Is that correct? It doesn't seem like you could fit a vary in-depth guide for 5 different figures in only 4 pages. Are the pictures really small maybe? lol

Or is it just not a vary detailed guide?

I'll take a look when I'm home to see if I have that issue. For what it's worth though, the Rangers and Damrod would have more or less identical paint schemes and Faramir's wouldn't be too different.

Actually the old White Dwarf painting guides were very good and easy to follow and replicate. Mostly text illustrated with a few thumbnail pictures. Of course it uses the old paint range names so you'll need to check the colour conversion charts scattered around the internet to find today's equivalent.

Ah, I see, that makes sense. From what I've heard though a lot of the colours in those things don't even match up very well, or wait, maybe it was just the official GW chart that didn't? I don't really remember.

Wouldn't it just be easier to buy the old paints instead? :P

If either of you guys own the issue would it be against forum rules to post a small picture of just what finished ranger or damrod looks like from the guide?

The painting guides for these guys are amongst the best done by GW. Very clear, concise and easy to replicate.

Alright, I guess that's a no for the picture then, no matter.

Thanks for all the help guys, I'll definitely pick up 279 on eBay when I can. 8)

Cheers.
