I dont have the first mini I ever painted because it belongs to an old friend of mine, but I was looking for my hobbit minis and I found this in the pack. It was one of the first miniatures (if not the first one) that I uploaded here to OR back in 2005 or so, and it was definetely one of the very first I ever painted.

That's actually very good, MacGothmog! Any chance of seeing your recent work?

Can't really do this with LotR minis, as none of my oldies survived... here's how my 'nids have progressed though!

Unluckily my early LotR Miniatures have alle been repainted some day. Back then I was just not confident with my "one layer, no highlight, no wash"-style anymore...

This Bretonnian archer might be my first painted miniature ever... I'm not quite sure but it might be from 1998. His style is pretty close to the one I used on my early LotR minis. I actually thought it looked pretty good... Never change a running system...^^

Today my archers look more like that:

That archer is not at all bad for a first mini - all the colours neatly in the right places, even details down the buttons on his shirt. And those horse archers are awesome.

My first gobbos and a cave troll back in Late May/Early June.
Oh boy I thought they looked good back then.

These are painted today! More pictures of Bert the Troll in my W.I.P thread.

Wow Hannanibal! Stunning painting! It's also amazing to see the progression everyone has made since they first started.

So I thought I'd join in and throw in a few pics from when I started back in Christmas 2008  - seems like I've been in this hobby for ages but it's only been 5 years!

Anyway the first mini I ever painted - a Space Marine from the old 40K starter box - Christmas 2008. Pretty terrible I know :-D
Image

Then my first LotR mini - a Ranger of Middle Earth. Again pretty bad. January 2009
Image

Then started to get better in 2012 after over a year out of the hobby between 2010-2011. Haldir. Image

Started to hit a better standard at Christmas 2012 with the EFGT box.
Image

Then I really wanted to start aiming for a better standard in April-May 2013 and this is Gamling done with a more measured approach.
Image

And finally where I'm at now. As you can see quite a difference to 2008... :)
Image
Image

So now I'm aiming to begin looking at more technical aspects of painting and continue my progress with the help of some of the fantastic painters on here :)

not sure of the time frame on this one, pretty sure i got the grim hammers right when they came out. anywho, this is my first grim hammer (not particularily bad i dont think, just boring as all get out) :

and this is my most recent grim hammer, finished him a couple months ago (also not so impressive, but i can see improvements) :

Thank you CooperHaydenn, I feel I've gotten better with my brush control and certainly my face painting has improved... I'm still very hit and miss doing eyes though... but I'm sticking with it :)
