Very nice indeed Mally, a great centre piece.

Looking forward to seeing your Hobbit Trolls

Fantastic work! I had a thought about one of these - maybe put in either a tiny led or use optical fibre to have light emanating from the Arkenstone. OTT, I know but someone will probably try it. Thror looks great too.

Nice work. I agree the photo does cast too much light on the mini and means we can't see the contrast between the shading and highlighting as well as it would look in real life. However, even when you rush, you still achieve a great standard.

A very nice piece (a common theme with your work) and I look forward to seeing your Troll's Diorama :)

It looks great Gandlaf and I'm glad that you didn't give up on this piece. I can understand you rushed it a bit though... and am looking forward to seeing your next project

So heres my latest offering.
It has not been done to a standard I am completely happy about but I think I have slightly rushed this so I can start on the diorama challenge. The stonework is not as smooth as I wanted and some angles are a bit askew but I will just have to live with that.
On the positive side Thror was a pleasure to paint, a great sculpt set in a dynamic pose. I did intend to do a plaque for this but once again I don't want to waste anymore time and get cracked on with my diorama.Image

A closer look at Thror. I have let a bit too much light into the photo.

Finally, The Arkenstone

Thanks for looking and as always C & C eagerly awaited.

That looks great, told you!

Thanks everybody. I have tried to take a better photo today to give you a better look of Thror. Still a bit of light saturation but at least it is better, you can see the blending on the face of the shield better but a lot of the detail in the face is missing, as with the gold detailing which is nowhere near as flat as the picture suggests..
I will have to sort this out at some point and have something more permanent for taking photos. I have been taking them in the kitchen were I have several large windows, this is great for painting but I think is letting down my photos.

You're judging yourself far too harshly- it looks really great, and has a lot of presence.

My view is this - if you seek perfection then you collect excellence along the way.

Thaaaat is an excellent piece. The diorama work is excellent and I hope my current project looks half as good. XD And Thror really looks excellent. In the brighter picture, it actually looks like him facially. Congratulations.

This is some excellent work, in particular the gold looks fantastic as well as the sculpting work.

In regards to your discontent with the photos, I'd recommend either making or purchasing a light box. I think that would alleviate a lot of your frustration as far as picture taking goes.

Again, some phenomenal work here.

An excellent philosophy. However, don't beat yourself up when you collect some well deserved excellence ;).

But we all do the same. I never like anything I paint/make till I haven't looked at it for two weeks. Then I say "you know what? that's actually pretty good!"
