There was a reason behind the fur. My next project is Thror and I will scratch build his throne. However the point I was making is the fur on the warg will be the same as Thrors fur ie this is the warg he killed for his fur coat !
A bit far fetched but it keeps me amused.

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Stop murdering Wargs people. They are an endangered species.

Great job! I really like the base, and the saliva is a nice touch.

Really nice work! Beautiful base and the saliva is excellent! I remember seeing DMS's use of the UHU glue and I will have to try that out. I look forward to seeing Thror and his throne!

I've made a start on the throne as you can see below. Initially I tried Milliput but it just wasn't working for me so I have tried styrofoam. It seems to be going better at least !

This is the rough shape that will need some attention to get it square and looking symmetrical. The rear of the throne is still to be done. The Arkenstone will be mounted in the relief area which will be constructed from card as you can see below.

Great project, again!
Are you also going to scratch-sculpt Thror himself, sitting on his throne? That would be amazing!

Great start to your new project, Looking forward to seeing your progress. How are you going to do the patterns around the base of the chair?

Paul - I have a couple of ideas as to what to do about the patterns and I will have to experiment first. It may be some thin card with the pattern cut out or the pattern painted onto the card. I do not see me etching into the foam as I think I am liable to make a mess of it.
Feanor - No plans to sculpt Thror or convert him. I will have him with his sword and shield standing on the largest flat area in front of his throne. My story will be him defending the Arkenstone and his throne. There will be a plaque on the plinth I have yet to make. I will call it something like ' King under the mountain' or ' The Arkenstone Is Mine' I'm open to any ideas on the naming.

Okay, sounds like a great plan! I reckon sculpting him would be pretty daunting..
"The King under the Mountain" sounds like a great name too. Looking forward to seeing this take shape!

Very good idea! What kind of foam is that? It looks very dense for white foam.

It's a cheap insulation foam from my local DIY. I bought a huge sheet for about £5 that will last me for ages. It's actually more of a cream colour but the photo has made it look white. The density is great, I can cut, file and sand it. It holds the shape excellently but doesn't stand much handling as a press with a finger on an edge can dent it.
I am going to experiment with a coating of something that will not lose too much of the texture I want to keep. I will try a varnish before priming just to give that extra bit of strength.

It should be ok for a diorama if you use a sturdy base. Some brush on water base craft paint will work for primer.I am looking forward to watching your project.

Thanks for noticing the reflection, it is small but I wanted to add that touch

Looks really nice! You've got the proportions absolutely perfect. Can't wait to see more.

Thanks all.
I've actually discovered it was a bit too tall, so I have had to reduce it a little. I am working on the detail and have the central design in place for the Arkenstone to fit in. Some pieces of card are being used for the gold detail on the steps.
I will get all these done before a further update, but I'm wanting to get this out the way as I'm itching to start my next big diorama for the challenge.
