I'm going to try to make a themed City of Dale list at the time it was rebuild.
My anvil will be Dalish Warriors and I'm hoping that my small allied company of Rohan will be my anvil.
I won't however use the models of Rohan but I plan to convert some of the Daletowners to cavalry models. (Some poses really allow it.)
The reason I take Erkenbrand is because he can boost my cavalry's Fight to the normal Dalish Warrior's Fight Value and I'll run Erkenbrand as King Brand (Bard's grandson), so his horn would Fluffwise just be his presence to boost their Courage. (Also his Fight matches the basic Captains their Fight.)

Warband 1 (Brand's Royal Mounted Guards)
Erkenbrand with horse (King Brand)
6 Riders of Rohan with +1F from Erkenbrand

Warband 2 (The main force)
Captain of Dale with shield
6 warriors of Dale with shields, 6 warriors of Dale with spear and shield

Warband 3 (Spears will be flanking unit, archers will get in position to shoot from.)
Captain of Dale with shield
5 warriors of Dale with spear and shield, 5 warriors of Dale with bows

Warband 4 (Spears will be flanking unit, archers will get in position to shoot from.)
Captain of Dale with shield
5 warriors of Dale with spear and shield, 5 warriors of Dale with bows

597 points

I'm also trying to get the most out of the boxes that's why I'm having more spear carrying models left then normal swordmen.
Please tell me what you think of it fluffwise and what you might add/change in this force.

I'm doing a similar project, and working along similar ideas as your list. Nicely fluffy. Good luck to you!

What do you think of the Erkenbrand/mounted daletowners idea?

I considered each and every cavalry model for my mounted force and all but gave up till I accidentally found Erkenbrand (I normally play Gondor), he just fits in perfectly. :D

Cunning. Very cunning. :D

I was just going to make something up seeing as I only play solo, but yours has legs in all environments. :)

Basically, yeah.

I play for the narrative that evolves from the game, rather than competition. Like videogames, but with miniatures instead of a computer. And no pressures, time limits or any of the other things that come naturally with competitive play.

Your method would be usable in any game, so long as your opponent isn't a complete git, so long as you let them know what the conversions counted as. Mine rather less so (but it doesn't matter as the only person I play who could object to a homegrown list is me, and he's absolutely fine with it. :D)

Aah, like that :p

Yeah, my opponents also love goodlooking narrative armies more then a uberlist picked from a site to ensure a easy win. I like a good balanced "roleplayed" game the most. (which can be a drawback as I see that a true commander should never leave his wounded behind so he holds his ground... while he sometimes better takes the legs gamewise)
