At what point in that movement does the charging model do anything it shouldn't be able to do according to the rules?

I found the answer for you Coenus Scaldingus.
pp 22 Control zones The Hobbit Rule Book. Second paragraph last sentence.

If another enemy models control zone is overlapping into the charged models zone then the "slide" has to stop before crossing into it. because it says.."Note that a model cannot choose to enter an enemy's control zone - it can only occour when made to by another rule."

So the overlapping of zones still prevents the screen being passed as long as the gap between two bases is less than 2"

This point has, I think, been completely addressed and answered now, but anyway, that line is not relevant: the next page tells us twice that 'a model ignores subsequent Control Zones after the first one that it enters'.

P22 pic 6 - blah blah.... he is free to continue moving WITHIN that control zone, as long as he ends up in base contact with the model whose zone he entered first......

Sliding as you guys call it IS allowed as long as the charger has enough move left to "slide" around

Good to have had this one cleared up, its perplexed me for a while. But cant argue with that. Nice one! Thanks :-)

Though once in base contact... PLEASE STOP MOVING
Base contact = engaged, thus no more movement.
