I do think mirkwood elves are more tricky to play, they do benefit greatly with terrain around, but keep in mind this limit by a bunch your deployment if you wanna be effective, a cunny oponent might well turn to exploit the lack of terrain areas to try to counter your elves.

The fighting style special rule is really sweet and counter the lack of having expensive models, but still youre hitting msot with S3 and its kinda pain if you pack vs D6+ and im sure this elves can´t win through attricion.

Tauriel is better than regular rangers not by only profile but the non limitation she have by being surrounded in which I think is when she is most deadly, the more she get stuck in combat the more attacks she earns, and getting surrounded by 6 to get a potencial might 8A at fight6... really pain

Another thing I wanted to see is these elves + beorn to ally with, I know your paying an already expensive army to even think about having the bear, but that thing is really a beast, he can handle a troll easily and faceslap him till he drops...lol

The deployment thing is fine because you can deploy 12 inches from the middle , over a 3 and you can deploy right at the back of the board , so its not too limited to be honest.

Can't wait for all the scrubs to field mirkwood ranger armies thinking they are op only to come up against my 6 model monster list and break after like 2 hurls.

It looks like i will be sculpting my own beorn tbh, that design is awful.
For a man with facial hair PJ is damn pogonophobic. none of the main characters bar Gandalf have anywhere near what I imagined.
I grow a better beard than Thorin...may your beard grow ever longer.

Are you going to leave Tauriel on her tree-stump? I was planning on removing it myself

The Barrels out of Bond are very nicely cast

They come in a plain box with bases, which i wont use as they will be put on to a diorama after a few games.

Just finished assembling Leggy and Tauriel - i was planning on removing the trees, but because of the angle they're at they'd look daft without them. I think the faces look better in person, though. They're not phenomenal, but they're less bad than GW's attempt at painting the made them seem.

The Rangers are drop dead gorgeous sculpts. I'm a little bit in love. Which is fortunate, because one scenario calls for me to buy two more sets. At least I'll have spares to a Hornblower and Captains conversions.

The book is fascinating, because the scenarios literally just stop a third of the way through the movie. No dol guldur, no laketown. Truly fascinating. I wonder if WB have been keeping a spoiler lid on things to prevent leaks, or something. Anyway, i shouldn't be surprised to see a Part 2 show up next year, or perhaps a (gulp) Digital Release of them. Notice also that the profiles are incomplete in at least Legolas case - he doesn't have the option for Orcrist, for instance. Also - Alfrid is Alfred for aome reason, and has a totally different background to the film version. Late change?

Bought the Thranduil with the straightest sword out of the 3 in stock. Get home and open it - no nose! Gonna have to return it. Never returned a model before, but it's too much of a defect to warrant the price.

I thought about buying a plastic boxed set but my back log is to great, and I just won't buy fine cast for the reason that you have stated

What are the three new Points Match scenarios?

Rescue - where one sides leader and his warband deploy in the center of the board, surrounded by the entire enemy force, and the rest of the surrounded player's force has to save him.

Blockade - one side has to prevent the enemy leader from escaping through the opposite table edge.

Seize the Prize - each side has to find the artefact, which they then compete to carry off the table.

The last two seem to be remakes of older scenarios - at least, they're ringing some bells. They seem fun, though.

Also to add to this new rules for Mirkwood trees to put in all scenarios, the new book is really well presented, great photography.

This one sounds quite interesting! I can see some very thematic/epic moments happening in this scenario!
