Just out of interest guys what character combos do you not leave home without and why? Who or what compliments other heros or even certain warriors?

I ask this after today learning how awesome Arathorn is with Malbeth in the same force with the chance of saving wounds!

I really like pairing Dwalin with the King's Champion. You just have a meat-grinder so to speak leading your troops that way

- Shade + pretty much anything (just because a Shade is overpowered)
- Abrakhan Guard + Serpent Guard (AG can Feint without losing F-value)
- Goblin King + Moria Goblin Shaman (makes him almost immortal)
- Khazad Guard + Wood Elf Spear (strongest Good unit gets F5)
- Grôblog + Moria Goblin Shaman (no might needed for Channeled Fury)
- Black Numenorean + Morannon Orc Spear (makes up for BNW 'low' S)
- Azog + The White Warg (3 might, extra movement, charge bonuses)
- Helmingas + Woses (S4 frontline and S3+1 support)
- Damrod + Denethor + Beregond (swarm them with warriors!)
- Gothmog + Mordor Orc Taskmaster (a lot of might)
- ...

Mounted Saruman and Mounted Thrydan work as a great Hero/Monster killing team, being able to transfix enemies, then really put the boot in especially if they are knocked to the ground!

Glorfindel, Gilgalad both mounted... they smash it

Half trolls with Harad spearmen with an Easterling shield wall in front to soak up arrows.

Also does anyone have any ideas what is the best way to deal with broken heroes/hero combos like this? I've tried magic but against Glorfindel with his armor it's extremely uneffective.

undying?? With the KoU??

I'd say they are a lesser combo.
KoU is a combat wraith with ok casting abilities, where as Undying is a caster spectacular and gets will from a friend doing magic, which if both are on fellbeasts then the Undying isnt going to be getting much will back

I'd say KoU and Kamul if on fellbeasts

Best combos? Well, much of mine is theory as a relatively new player.

From experience... heroes + a horse is a good good thing.

In theory... how about, corsair reaver front line, supported by serpent guard, with a banner and a shade and the betrayer, with missile support from watchers of karna?

I tend to cast Transfix before the KoU charges benefiting the undying, the Kou tends to win the majority of his fights and can hang on to a lot of will. They both tend to be around for a seriously long time.

Thranduil, Legolas (with armour and cloak) and Galadriel.

These three tend to perform well for me. Galadriel puts up CBL, Legolas puts wounds onto heroes and Thranduil makes the force terrifying and has a nature's wrath for when the tables need turning.
