Hi guys.
It seems that the TLA website has expired.

Has this happened to everyone or just me?

Is anone else having problems with getting onto the website?

Thanks,

Yup, These things come and go. It'll probably work fine soon enough.

Same!

...I'd love to see OR+LA combine efforts somehow in the near future… the GW LOTR community is so little as it is we should only have 1 (English speaking anyways) forum for the community. I kind of don't mind the situation LA is in right now.

Am I the only one that feels that way?

Website up and running again.

One issue is that each site is heavily invested by the owners and moderators and have their very own distinctive flavor. I think you would have a hard time getting the two groups to agree to a common format.

Likewise the community 'feels' a little different across each. I really enjoy browsing TLA sometimes but I never (IIRC) created an account over there. I only have personal time to give to one forum on this hobby and many years ago decided the community here at OR was a better match for me.

Just for the case of centralizing all the valuable information I would not mind a unified site as well, but there are usually more good things to be said for diversity than for centralization.

I'm not sure what the issue was, but TLA seems to be ok again now.

Combining TLA and OR has been discussed at length many times in the past, by both parties. As Beowulf points out, the two communities have a different flavor - the teams involved with both sites have different styles and objectives and there hasn't been a pressing need to try to overcome those differences. When TLA was floundering a few years back, the OR helped keep it afloat - as I am sure they would do for us if we were to have some difficulties.

As the hobby diminishes (as it will inevitably), it's something that we will no doubt have to consider once again. So it may happen one day, but there's no urgent need for it right now.
