Ha, thanks! Didn't think ol' Sharku would go down that well TBH. Not a very nice model :P

I'll try and get cracking on the rest of the scouts today but I can't promise anything. I usually get a lot of visitors on a Sunday. Not that I'm complaining.

Glad it inspired you. I started mine as soon as I got him just in case he ended up unpainted for months like Vrasku.

Thanks Gene.
As requested here's my recipe for quick and easy Uruk-Hai scouts.
Nothing special but they look nice on the battlefield. I actually started this tutorial a week ago but I've been so busy for so long that I ended up falling asleep and only picked them back up today. If you're not knackered, stick with it and have a hairdryer handy these will only take about 3 hours for 4 miniatures.

After cleaning and assembling the miniatures they are primed black. After they are primed i like to paint the entire model with VGC Charred Brown to give a nice, neutral colour for painting lots of browns.

Step 1. Basecoats.
Image
Basecoat, in this order:
VGC Cobra Leather (or GW Snakebite Leather) on collars and underskirts.
GW Abbadon Black (or any good, matte black) on boots, gloves, loin-guards and helmet flaps
AP Plate Mail Metal on all metal areas (or GW Chainmail)
VGC Beasty Brown (or GW Bestial Brown) on all straps
VMC English Uniform on the jackets.
VGC Charred Brown on the flesh.
Once the basecoats are finished go over the model with the same paints, in the same order again tidying up all mistakes. Aim to make the basecoats as tidy as possible.

Step 2: Washing
Image
Once the basecoats are dry wash the entire model with AP Dark Tone Ink (or GW Badab Black)
When this is dry wash the metal areas with AP Strong Tone Ink (or GW Devlan Mud)

Step 3: Highlights
Image
Highlight the areas of the miniature in this order:
GW Adeptus Battlegrey on all black areas. Use a detail brush and only use sparing highlights on the edges.
AP Plate Mail Metal on the metal areas. Use a detail brush and only use sparing highlights on the edges.
VGC Cobra Leather on all underskirts and collars.
VMC English Uniform on the jackets.
VGC Beasty Brown on the straps.
VGC Dark fleshtone on the flesh followed by an optional highlight of 2/1 VGC Dark Fleshtone and VGC Bonewhite.

Paint the base and you're done.

Cheers.
I don't have many breaks in my schedule so I don't know when I'll be updating this thread again.
Here's hoping it's sooner rather than later.

Contrary to me last message I have a couple of hours painting I can do this morning! Here's hoping I finish three metal berserkers that arrived the other day from Ebay.

I think I'll get a few more of these guys if I can find them cheap enough on Ebay.

They're the coolest things in the film trilogy, the models are epic and they're the quickest miniatures in the army to paint.

Once again everything got a basecoat+wash+single highlight except the flesh which got 3 highlights.
I normally only do two highlights on the other uruks in the army but because these guys are mainly flesh I felt they needed an intermediate stage of highlights to soften the layers.

Top notch! Amazing painting as always! The skin is very very cool! But I also love the metal parts, the blood and the bases.

Definately the best LOTR minis I've seen!

Simple, with great results. What more could you ask for? Well done.

The highlighting on the skin is so smooth you can hardly see the transition, really nice stuff - I hope I can get to this standard eventually ^^

Wow, your work is really excellent :yay:

I'm even more impressed as you say the Beserkers are the quickest models in the army to paint, I've painted up loads of Beserkers and ferals and always find they take the longest thanks to all the skin on show and mine don't come out anywhere near as well as yours!

Really wonderful painting, can't wait to see more.

Those berserkers are some of the best I have ever seen.
