Just was wondering if anyone had any good conversion or alternate models they used as Aragorn, absolutely hate every GW sculpt of him and the only 2 I have is the original boxed metal fellowship and the MoM Starter.

I'm trying to create a good looking fellowship for display and special gaming scenarios so any help/suggestions would be awesome.

My favourite Aragorn model would be the breaking of the fellowship model. Also the helms deep running pose is decent. Off topic but meh...

Aragorn is the most sculpted character in the entire LotR range. There must be around 12 models of him now, and you hate all of them? Wow you're a tough guy to please! :)

Years ago I converted my fellowship aragorn to fire a bow. I'll post a pic if I can find one.

I like the Aragorn from the Three Hunters.

Personally, I have converted my MoM Aragorn, using the sword arm from the Mounted Aragorn and the knife arm from the first Amon Hen set.

For an alternate model, I'd look into the Dunedain, with a head swap so he still has Aragorn's face.

The best Aragorn i have seen so far sadly is the unreleased one wearing rohan armour. Awesome model both foot and mounted. Conversionn wise maybe a ranger of the north or dunedain model with a head swap could work.

You could try Darksword Miniatures. They have a range of miniatures for Game of Thrones (based on the books, not the show).

http://www.darkswordminiatures.com/shop/index.php/miniatures/george-r-r-martin-masterworks/jon-snow.html

The Jon snow Miniature might be useful, though it could require some conversion - particularly a head swap, as Jon Snow is quite a young character. He's also wearing chainmail.

So many models and you like NONE of them? :O Is there anything in particular that you dislike?
Or is it the way Aragorn is depicted in the films as well?

The unreleased one DMS mentioned is luuuuuurvely but I don't think they've ever topped the Breaking of the Fellowship pose - absolutely stunning figure IMO.

Still each to their own, it's hard to know what to recommend if you really don't like any of them. Assuming you want movie Aragorn you'd need to do a head swap probably with, as others have said, Rangers of the North, Dundeain etc.

As memory serves I think the Dark Sword ASOIAF minis are slightly too large to use alongside SBG figs.

I have no problem with the film depiction of Aragorn.
For me it's really the arm placement when compared to the body's stance with the models I think, the young Dwalin is a great example of this, his pose looks more comical than anything. There are some models that I feel GW absolutely nailed! I love the original Witch-King drawing his sword, I love the Dwarves King's champion because with his heralds and his axes by his side he looks like a beast!

@imladris96- those two probably come closest to me but they're not quite what I am looking for in him.

@ukfreddybear- I just don't feel like any of the poses fit the two criteria I want for him, heroic-leader and like he fits in battle. Almost all of his "in battle" poses have him so off balance or such terrible sword form that he'd be killed in a few seconds lol. And the MoM sculpt I think believes he is a Jedi and he's holding a Light-saber doing that circular cut through a wall/door

@Goldman25- i agree that is probably the best looking sculpt, if they had one like that with his sword drawn i might have just settled for that.

@DMS- I will probably end up having to do just that as I cannot sculpt.

@KingO- Thanks for the link, i seldom actually see other mini-ranges that have anything I like, are they all to scale with the LOTR pieces? Because if so I've found my new favorite wizard piece in the Arston Whitebeard model.

@Harfoot- I have the original fellowship sculpt as well my main complaint is how open his defense looks when you put him in combat on a game board

I wouldn't know, I havn't bought any of them myself. Others have said they're larger than LOTR so I guess not.

My old conversion. Pretty lame by todays standards. I made it for that scene in Fellowship where they are in Balins Tomb waiting for the goblins to arrive through the big door.

do you have a picture of this? I wasn't aware there was an unreleased Aragorn featuring rohan armor.

No it won't. Was a prototype for a rohan supplement years ago which got scrapped.
