Against Elves, Tough Hide, I reckon. The additional Defence makes it harder to kill than ever, which is useful.

Fly is useful in general, but it can end up with your dragon overextending and being cut off from the horde. Mind you, if a group of elves gets real close to your goblins, the Dragon's extra maneuverability can save your troops.

you shouldn't be afraid of elves with golblims.

Fly you must take, you must be able to move your dragon to places where you need them and fly is very usefull then.

tought hide isn't good, you winn most of the fights because 4A and F8, and you already have D7. And if you're that mutch in trouble you fly away. and if your dragon is almost Always the last one standing of your army so if your opponent stil has 40 man (and some heroes) or so then you will die, D9 or not.
wrymtongue is better to compel heroes to your dragon, so they won't be able to do mutch harm later. because then they are truely attackiing your dragon, at the start your opponent just puts 1 man on your dragon.

"Fly" is a absolutely indispensable, being able to fly over obstacles and terrain to get to where he can cause the most havoc, swiftly, can make or break a game.

"Breathe Fire" is shockingly lethal against anything, particularly tightly packed formations (even Dawrves!). Most opponents will scatter their formations just to avoid such a scenario, which can be massively taken advantage by lots of goblin warriors with spear support. A couple of good hits can rip the heart out of an enemy army!

Something worth considering is that all four upgrades are appropriate to Smaug's description in the Hobbit! I can't wait to see the miniature and his stats.

I think that I shall get my Dragon out in October to get the interest with my gaming group going building up to the "Desolation of Smaug" film release!

"Botomir"? I'll have to remember that one! Weve been calling him Bogmire when we play Bored of the Rings.

Fly and Tough Hide. Why waste Will points?

Personally I think that fly and wyrmtongue are devastating together

you can draw your enemy out with compel then charge them down

I think that fly and though hide are the best, as they add maneuverability and survivability to you expensive dragon.

Thanks for the feedback guys :)
So in general fly and tough hide are the two preferable options but I guess it all depends on the scenario as to which to choose :D

all upgrades are nice and should all be seen equal. tough hides good for armies that can get though a d7 (eg crossbows/ elf bows) and fly is a must i agree. dragon breath is useful for monsters that cant avoid being wounded eg: Mumak, morodor trolls. while wyrmtongue is suited to take down heros and take away all their will muhahahahah useless shamans. so all upgrades are good

Pretty much everyone agrees on Fly and I back that as well. The beast must be able to go where he is needed and get away when he can.

I can't pick a second 'favorite' because I have found Dragon Breath and Wyrmtongue each very useful. I initially took Tough Hide all the time but as mentioned above I was finding when I used a dragon he didn't really NEED Tough Hide as much as I thought. He didn't loose a lot of Fight rolls and when he did it was already pretty hard to get through his base defense. It all depends on your opponent force though.

If I was taking him to a tournament I would probably go with Tough Hide just to be extra careful but for friendly play Fly and Breath make a Dragon very versatile and the threat of Breath is something your opponent needs to think about constantly (perhaps forcing him to alter his normal tactics which gives you an advantage in itself).
