They are pretty decent as you can see and tbh for £2, I can't complain. If you want better quality, you have to be prepared to pay higher prices.

Arcane Scenery 50mm Spears/ Javelins. A quick ebay search of that should bring them up. £6 for 40 spears which is plenty for what I need.

Finished Glorfindel last night for the painting challenge, must be a new PB for quickest completed model. It is a truly gorgeous model.

And I also got an erebor spearman to 99% completed so here is a sneak peak of what's to come.

Glorfy's looking nice, I like the armour. :yay:
The cloak looks a little rough though... perhaps using a few extra layers in of highlights would make it a little smoother?

nice though, and I like the grimhammer convertions too. 8)

Great painting and very nice conversions SD. I think Foundry or Warlord do metal spears too or did in the past. I found these on Warlord -

And now, at Crucium's expense, comedy typo of the day:

the Crave Drake makes a great center piece

A Crave Drake: causes unimaginable hunger pangs in the opponents forces who rout off the table in search of food. :)
Off topic I know but it was too good to pass over. Sorry Crucium. Don't consign me to the Deadzone.

So a largish update for all you lovely lot today.

First up, my dwarves. You might have noticed that I am currently working on a armoured erebor dwarf list using grimhammers as the base models but converting them into erebor dwarves. I was given a grimhammer captain for my birthday so I set about converting him aswell.

Et voila:

Also made some progress on painting the spearmen

And you may have noticed the East Grinstead Tournament thread, this next model may or may not be making an appearance there ;)

Gothmog Ft (very much WIP but not bad for a mornings work)

Gothmog Mtd (Done to a gaming standard but need to touch up a few bits)

Gothmog look v.nice mate, the warg's really nicely done and very neat.

Love the Captain conversion too, you're creating a really unique looking force there, can't wait to see it finished!

Shame we won't be seeing the Grimhammers in action at the weekend, Gothmog'll be there though eh? Interesting, I spy a Southy Mordor force on the horizon...

Great stuff, particularly like the Grim Hammer Captain holding an Elven blade, good war story there I imagine

Nice work with the red leather. Red is a difficult one to get as bright as you have managed.

Slow progress atm. In limbo about what to paint. Grimmhammer/ Erebor spears are progressing slowly. Done some more work on the captain though.

He's coming along nicely and a fitting base. Do you plan for a lava flow around the stone ?

That's a good idea but nope. Hard to see in the picture but it will just be a dirt base to match the rest of my force.

Twas the only weapon I had that wasnt right handed. I'll think up some fluff reason in the future haha.

So young dwalin arrived the other day (reviews over in the miniatures thread) and I decided to paint him up straight away.

I'll admit now I rushed him and am not 100% happy with the result. Gaming standard.

I also decided to paint my shieldbearer and a contingent of iron guard. These bad boys are gonna be my blue moutain allies for my erebor army.

They are still a WIP. I tried to get them done for a game on sunday but the ashes proved too distracting.
