I am sure that many of you have seen these already, but for those who haven't and would like to, please follow the following llinks:

Smaug:
http://www.theonering.net/torwp/categor ... bit-movie/

Beorn:

https://plus.google.com/u/0/+theonering ... UVTB4JasZi

There is also an image of a wood elf some what a'la Robin Hood above a dwarf in a barrel.

And for those of you who feel that they can cope with a full two minutes, the "Desolation of Smaug" trailer is available on you tube.

Smaug - very large, suitably draconian and the light from his eyes is both a nod to the book and a hint of who might have been seeking to manipulate the dragon in the long term.
Beorn - big again, as in the book. The image in the publicity from last year showed him as a bear standing in front of Gandalf.

I am keen to see how large a model they actually produce of Smaug? The actual film scale would suggest something the same size but somewhat elongated version of a realm of battle square. I suspect that he will be based upon a Mumak size base, but could be standing up or more likely somewhat coiled.

Would have to be Mumak sized base. Not looking forward to the $138 AU price tag. I bought 2, 5 star PC games which give me years of enjoyment for that much so it had better be the best sculpt they have ever done.

I suspect that Smaug is going to be the center piece of the entire Hobbit range, and every effort put into producing something spectacular. I suspect with a price tag to match!

I wouldn't be surprised if Smaug becomes a forge world piece costing a good few hundred quid.

I think that could be a possibility, and I suspect it would be something that Forge World would do well with, however there is no way that GW would miss a flagship for their Hobbit range. W might find that a Forge World version is released later on.

Part of me hopes that Benedict Cumberbatch uses Clifford the Dragon from the 1980's Listerine adverts as his primary influence.

Lol :-D that would be hilarious, you have to be a certain age to remember that advert!

Can't happen I don't think, as far as I'm aware FW aren't in on the license deal as far as I know.

I'd be shocked if GW did anything other than a large plastic kit for Smaug anyway, though. Look at the kits they're doing for WH40k (particularly the leaks of the new Apocalypse stuff, if you've seen them) - it'll be something along those lines.

Forge World did release a Weather Top model a few years ago, really fantastic quality, but prohibitively expensive.
