Just got this message through on facebook. It's not good reading.

Buy Tickets Now!!

Quote:
The events team have warned that not enough people have bought doubles tickets. I know they have been rubbish at advertising it but we need to support tournaments if we want to see them continueing.
If just 10 pairs could get their tickets then Nick might feel less pressured to cancel... lets not lose the little support we have for our system from GW.
Just because it won't sell out doesn't mean you can always leave this until last minute.

To over view the rules
1 army shared between two people. Total points is 1000pts. Either good OR evil.

So to sum it up, support the tournaments or we are in danger of losing the support of GW for good. And that would be very bad.

£87 for a ticket is a joke. Sorry but that coupled with travel costs is that of a small holiday!

£92.50 actually  but that does cover two people. So £46.25 for a ticket isn't really too bad

Ouch.

Would like to get more involved though, so if I can find a willing comrade, consider me in :)

The reason people aren't going is the price - the hotels in the area are NOT cheap. I went down for a doubles tournament last year, at cheaper prices and the total came to over £150/person when factoring in the cheapest travel and accommodation we could find.

I managed to get a travel lodge for 2 nights at a cost of £42, so only £21 each for me and my partner for 2 nighta... that seemed cheap enough :)

I hate to say it guys but this isn't really a hobby for the poor  but I agree with MM, booked in advance, a premier inn/ travel lodge so be no more than £40 each. Train tickets from the south coast are £30 in advance. It's far cheaper than a night on the town, weekend of golf etc.

Agreed on this one. Heck, compared to the price of Throne of Skulls these tickets are cheap - £46 compared to £60 for exactly the same thing.

As mentioned above travel and accom are only expensive if you look in the wrong places and leave it until the last minute.

Who you partnering Knighty? Might see if Ste or Pete can do it, although taking a weekend off work will cost me!

I am going with my Cousin and house mate, however my Northern Git Cousin has dropped out so I have to recruit another. I personally feel that the weekend is worth every penny! "Ranulf your Dwarf is Exposed" doubles team will fight again!

MoriaMadness - that's JUST accommodation though - factor in the additional costs such as travel, the event itself, if you want any snacks, the bar afterwards etc...

SouthernDunedain: True, but sometimes such offers aren't there - I booked as soon as I had the tickets, which was in the first couple of weeks of them going on sales. Plus trains from Yorkshire are more expensive (even with railcards) based on that pricing. Additionally, we had to get a taxi to/from the station. Agreed that it's not a hobby for the poor, but they're certainly eliminating some people from it with low value prices.

Sorry Thermo, but I'm a firm no - I'd love to, but I can't afford the ticket price, let alone the petrol or accommodation, etc.

I'm driving from yorkshire, just a heads up if anyone might want/need a lift, I'll try help out where possible! :) My theory on pricing:

Tickets £93
Hotel £40
Travel £30
Goodies £50

Divide by the 2 people and its just over £100 each (£108.50 -ish depending on travel situation etc). I budget £150 though to allow for treats and atleast one impulse buy.
Definately agreed that this is not a hobby for the poor :( I had to scrape by on ebay whilst I was ill and out of work but now that I am working again I have been looking forward to this event for a long time! This weekend will be my equivalent of a 'lads holiday' :D I hope many of you can come as I have not met alot of you yet and drawn dice lol

Who could possibly sully with money an event that gave birth to an artistic creation of this magnitude? It certainly was very special!
