Heres the finished item then. The first thing is the photos are a shade lighter than the real thing so it doesn't actually look as pink as the photo suggests.
I tried making the young one brown but it never worked so I opted for a lighter shade of mum.

Wowowowow.. looking so good! Never thought i might like a purple dragon, but you've done such a great job!! Your shading makes it looking almost as if his scales are metallic! very cool!
Try White Dwarf Daily maybe? ;)

Right .... I wanted to try and offer some critique on this model as I have been following your progress intently and have been waiting for the finished result before I posted.

The pink and the shimmering colours blended into the pink are astounding - well done you've painted up a crazily unique piece I love it!!!

Only a couple of of things which in my personal opinion would add to the model a little more would be to add some colour to the spines along the drakes back. Although they do look good white they are a little too white for me and could be shaded more maybe from browny yellow where the spine meets the body blended through lighter yellow and up to white at the tip. At the moment for me they are a little too white and draw attention away from the stunning paint job on the scales.

The second critique is no biggie really and can be looked at in two ways. The base is slightly sparse for what for me is a stunning center piece for your collection. Maybe break up teh landscape a little with some cork or something to resemble some broken rocks, rubble etc. Of course the other way of looking at it is the base is good, consistant and does not draw the eye away from the stunning paint job. Had it been my model and i had pulled off that kind of quality paint job i would have gone all out on the base too.

Stunning work mate - keep it up.

A massive thanks to everyone for their responses which help me greatly. I am pleased to note my painting technique is holding up.

Rognarr - I may take another photo with a white background and see how it looks. It may be worth a try as it is a bit different.

DMS - heartwarming praise from one so good, thanks. I agree on the spines but they are a touch darker than the picture suggests. they are not pure white, more like the claws. I will have to take another photo but they probably could do with being darker and blending to the white.
I thought of some rocks but was concerned on the amount of room on the base. I have some long straw like field grass on order that hasn't arrived yet. I was going to use a bunch or two to break up the rock bed and resemble some dead grass.
To be honest I was wanting to finish which is maybe more my reason for a simple base.
I think that would be a way forward for me, doing a base along the lines of your mounted Glorfindel.

Praise is well earned my friend!

Re. base - don't need to go as far as the mounted Glorfindel which was pretty over the top lol. Field grass is good stuff but looks best when it is growing through something and is less convincing on large flat areas. maybe get some small stones and gravel and just stick don the smll stones and then a little gravel/rubble round them - paint them up as rock and then add your field grass. A little daunting no doubt working on a model which is already painted to a high standard.

The Cave Drake looks amazing! :yay: It would really stand out on a battlefield, and you've used a very striking colour scheme 8) Can't wait to see what you come up with next

Thanks for he feedback everyone, it's nice to know your work is appreciated and I will take this forward into my next project. That one happens to be a pointy earred elf which I've made a start one. However the April painting challenge will need to be done first.
