Not much painting of late beside undercoating the remaining Rohan command and the ranger conversion, I'm kind of letting it slip at this stage. Made some terrain though, dug out an old unfinished project and got stuck in...
Cut some oval shapes out of cardboard and glued them on top of one another. Got some dried twigs and stuck them on with blu-tac and painted with PVA.
Added some strips of newspaper with lashings of PVA to get rid of the steps on the cardboard and add a little support for the twigs which got another dose of PVA.
Some broken cork and small pebbles
Glued some tree bark to various areas and painted the whole lot with pva before smothering it all in sand.
Before adding the PVA and sand I placed the cardboard piece on some cling-film which was on a solid flat surface. I poured PVA near the edge of the cardboard and let it flow over the edge and onto the cling-film. I then placed a barrier of sand around the PVA to stop it from running wide and becoming thin. The PVA leaked through anyway so I lifted the edges of the cling-film towards the center of the terrain and fixed them there to contain the pva flow. I thought it might set with a slight upwards curve but it turned out grand...and thats where I left off.
Underside of the terrain.
To finish then was just a matter of painting and adding some static grass and flock.
Still needs a right thumb and another nail for his left hand. The feet look a little naked as is but I'm hoping that the base detail I have in mind will support and compliment whats going on with the sculpt. Other than that he's almost done.
