Cheers Jay

I suppose the height isn't my real issue with them, I think its more to do with their general girth/width aswell as head and arm sizes that are just too small to be taken seriously as the trolls from the films - they look to me abit like troll kids!

All trolls would be juveniles at some point surely, what is wrong with a juvenile troll horde, kept in line by the big bad tutor of sorts....

Looks awesome man. If you are worried about the 3 smaller trolls put them on gw bases, i think it would make up for the perception difference. But if you do convert them show us the WIP pics :)

Cheers Tezzy,

I think I will try to buff them up a little to get them closer to matched sizes.
A cut at the waste, cut at the shoulders and cut at the elbow with greenstuff added to each cut area to help increase height, width and arm length might be enough to make them fit in.
I'll also swap the heads for spare, normal GW sized troll heads from the Mordor Troll plastic set which I've just picked up off ebay. I've some instantmold (oyumaru actually) that I'm thinking of taking some quick casts of where I don't have enough spares (think there are 3 head options in the plastic set so should be good to go as is).
So basically I'll be using these guys as part troll/part armature for greenstuffing!

I've been away from the hobby for quite a while, but used a little greenstuff in the past so feel that while it'll be a decent sized project for a return, I think I might manage it.
I'll put up a WIP as and when I commence it (a while off yet).

nice one! trolls, the unsung heroes of the freedom forces of mordor. :D

i have all the ones pictured and a lot of non-gw models, too (trolls happen to be my favorite fantasy species).

size and look wise, the gamezone and mierce trolls would probably work best for you.

there are also the very interesting war troll and troll drummer by thomarillion, but these had to be cancelled after a c&d letter by gw's legal team, because they didn't hold a license, of course. a bit difficult to get, but they blend well with the gw stuff:

as i am not a tolkien purist (i believe his opinions to be just one of many about what has or has not happened), i do not have any problem mixing them with a wide variety of other trolls, notably bob olley sculpts (54 - 63mm in size):

cheers.
