Been doing some more EfGT lately. Painted up a bunch of goblins, and the goblin town scenery stuff, and I managed to finish Mister Dwalin and Mister Gloin.

With my Gloin I actually won a Hero/HQ painting competition today at GW Amsterdam. I only visited the shop again after like 8 years, 2 days ago, and heard about the contest, finished Gloin up yesterday...

Quite pleased about winning, especially cause I was up against so a lot of larger sized 40k and WHFB mini's, with big scenery bases etc. Atleast gives me the confirmation I'm on the right track.

I thought I'd post some pics for those interested. It's a shame I still really can't get the images sharper, since there is a lot of detail on Gloin, but it should give an idea I guess.

Wow!! I'm really not suprised you won the comp!
Absoloutely stunning stuff!!! :yay: :yay:
The details are utterly brilliant!

Dwalin is also very, very very neat, but Gloin but blows them out of the water!

Fantabulous work!!

I can't believe how much detail you put into these. You must have very good eyesight and a steady hand!

Details, my god. Did you freehand a quilting effect on that armour? I'm curious what your red recipe is, it's a really nice rich crimson.

I love the beards on these guys too, really nice highlighting work. Great minis. Congrats on your contest win!

I wasn't enthusiastic about the EfGT dwarves at all when I first saw them, but having seen what you've done with them I kinda want to take a shot at them myself.

Thanks, my hands are quite shaky from time to time, I just try to get a firm grip, and then usually I'm fine.

Yes, the quilting effect is freehand, I got this amazing 5/0 Rotmarder Kolinsky brush, which does miracles!

The red recipe is used was;
70/30 or so Mix Vallejo Gory Red (Citadel Wazdakka Red equivelant) and Vallejo Air Black (any black will do). Then 1 or 2 Washes of Agrax Earthshade. Then I gently applied a few thin layers of watered down Gory Red. For the undershirt, I added a final highlight of 70/30 Gory Red & Skull White.

I have to say the whole EfGT set is pretty much worth it, there is so much detail, I'm amazed what they can do with Plastic these days, specifically in all the three starter sets.
