Well, I'd be suprised if they got after you for base decoration.... :o I wonder if the more relaxed attitude towards proxies/40K parts was becuase it was ToS format, or....?

I think it might just be a contract negotiation... or maybe another cock up?

Tbh it was generally more relaxed anyway so perhaps people might now enter their 11 year old kids?

I hope the amount of people was enough to ensure future support for the hobby through events such as this one. When you say that the number was less than previous years, how many people used to attend at the zenith of the hobby?

I reckon it'll be busier next year. Think about how many of us are new to the hobby even on this forum.

I know I'd be interested next year and have started a get together in manchester who all would likely be keen on attending.

And by then all those who have joined because of The Hobbit will have started their gaming...

If you are interested there is a tournament in April in Stockport. Independently run. I was last years champ (Brap brap) so it would be good to get some new people and old people there.
Interest can be expressed here.

So, after a busy 4/5 days, all battles have been concluded, weary travellers have returned and photos and battle summaries being uploaded as we speak. The weekend as a whole was great fun, I know I had 5 fantastic games despite only winning 1 (although I lost 3 games by 2/3 VPs so was close) and I also got to play the guy who wrote the hobbit rules. Got destroyed by him...

I also got to meet a few people from here - KnightyKnight, Dr Grant and we enjoyed a good few days.

Here are the photos taken from the WHW facebook page.
my facebook page

I am still getting round to commenting on every photo so bear with.

Here is Team Cosy Wosy ( :-X muppetslayer! :o )
Image
(from left to right: KnightyKnight, Muppetslayer, Me, Gondorian Captain)

Friendly Game Summaries ( that I can remember)

Myself (Mordor) V Mark (knighty(Gondor))

Image

So this was the first game of the weekend. A good old mordor V gondor punch up on the outskirts of Pelagrir. It was the story of low dice rolls in this game. Luckily my dice improved towards the end and managed to wipe out the gondor scum. Highlights of the match: Setting denethor on fire with Kardush and killing him ala RotK style. My Troll Chief using faramirs citadel guard as darts...and probably 6 out of 7 gondorians failing their courage test and legging it off the hill

Louis (muppetslayer (Fiefdoms)) V Kieran (Gondorian Captain(Isengard))

No pictures from this game I'm afraid as I was crushing Marks gondor at the time :D From what I gathered in the bar afterwards Kieran's crossbows had a field day shooting at the advancing Dol Amroth troops.

More to come later...

Ok so here are the final results according to Cereal. WIth Margins of victory.
So many errors were made by the ents team so I've put a quick reason as to the changes.

Tom Harrison won over all by a markin of 0.29
Moria - Sam Jeffreys 10 (Steven D had an extra win thus pulling the ave down)
Mordor - Ed Balls 6.5 (Ed had a missing win and beat Charles S on army list)
Fallen realms - Louis Jones 4.25 (Damien O'B had a win too many, so was equal pts with Louis so it was down to army list and as Louis won the army list award I think it is safe to assume he over came on that one)
Free peoples - Tom Harrison 10.29 (Tom had a missing win, Tom Thorpe was in the wrong list)
Kingdoms - Ben Quigley 9 (Ben had a missing win)
Hobbit good - Jay Claire 6(now there are only 3 people Jay does much better)
Hobbit evil - Adam Troke 7(now there are only 3 people Adam does much better)
Good alliance - Michael Churchill 3.4 (Michael had a missing win, Hardy had a win too many and Dan was in the wrong list)
Evil Alliance - James Braud. 3 (now there are 4 people in this group ther ave is no where near 5)

Hope this brings a smile to some people's faces. Sorry to those who lose out.
Lets just hope Events team come out and formally say this

Go Team Cosy Wosy! :D

I managed to get a couple of photos during this game, so here are some of the more interesting ones.

Image
Image
Shieldwalls!

Image
The Undying (wisely) using an orc as a living, yet perhaps not entirely willing shield.

Image
"Men, charge that troll!" ... Oh, if only my Citadel Guard knew what was coming to them...

Image

Image
Faramir. On the floor. Yet again. Getting his face trod on by Black Guards. Seriously, this mighty son of Gondor spent most of his time lying on the ground, having been knocked down over and over by a Troll Chieftain playing darts with Citadel Guards...

Overall a very fun game and a great way to kick off the weekend. Southy's Mordor army is incredible beyond words, everything synergises perfectly to make a well rounded, highly effective bunch of orcses. Round one to the Dunedain....

I gave up using Faramir as he always ended up running away or with his face in the dirt. Madril and mounted Pippin made a very good alternative (especially when Pippin was the only one to escape on Reconnoitre).

I've said this elsewhere but thanks for all the work Owen, it's much appreciated and it's nice for Tom to get the recognition. As his sportsmanship votes show he's not the sort of person you get riled up about all this stuff but I think it's fair to say that he was more than a little disappointed in the car home to not get the trophy.

Tis also a shame to be pipped to the Fallen Realms award but the numbers don't lie (anymore!), I'll be getting in touch with Louis ASAP.

I've posted a summary of my weekend in a new thread as I didn't want to spam this one with a massive post, it gives a blow by blow of the weekend and includes 5 battle summaries, if not quite reports.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=25237

Hope it's mildly interesting for some, roll on doubles!

Hi buddy, thanks for the heads up! Think I'm on the group already but was worried about the whole 1000pts of each thing. What's your name Cereal? If you're in stockport, fancy a game at some point? Show us how it's done!

Were there many siege engines deployed?
How did they get on?

There were no siege engines that I could see during my wander round the tables. The new deployment rules mean that they are useless in standard games as you can get within the minimum distance within a turn.

Lord_of_the_nine where in Greece do you live? There is also a Greek forum called "Osgiliath Veterans" which I am not a member of. Though I know that they hold frequent tournaments and events .
