Allies for Rohan

My friend has a Rohan army, and wants to know who to ally them with.

However, he is too young to be on here so I am asking for him.

Who make good allies for Rohan?

I have Rohan and for allies I use; Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Gandalf (because they've all fought with Rohan) and Treebeard (because he lives next door).

Any thoughts for some actual armies to ally them with?

What about Gondor? He could recreate the alliance at pelennor.

Theme is not important for him
I think he wants either gondor, dwarves or arnor

Which one should he pick?

Depends if he is fielding a mounted rohan army or an infantry force. Erkenbrand is sort of a must for the former, and Grimbold is a must for the latter. Arvedui and some rangers are good allies for helmingas. I reckon mounted radagast+eagles is one of the best options for a mounted army (depending on size), but a mounted rohan army with a good mix of elties doesn't really require much support beyond a few extra heroes.

It's mixed
He has 130 infantry and 24 cavalry, most of the heroes apart from Grimbold, Erkenbrand, hama and theodred and loads of captains.
But mostly he only uses the cavalry in smaller games.

Just spoke to him, and he's thinking the dead, blackroot vale and Arnor

I'll ask him about eagles or maybe even ents

Well he needs Erkenbrand or Grimbold at some point to be perfectly honest, they are SO helpful in making your troops better

He's going to get them for his birthday in march as erkenbrand is so expensive

Arnor are definitely a good match (all spears help the rohan men) however are expensive money wise. The army of the dead are good and cheap money wise, same with blackroot vale since they are just plastic rangers. However I cannot recommend the blackroot vale unless you guys have friends who love monsters.
