Faces make or break a miniature's look in my opinion, and in my quest to ever increase my skill of face painting, I stumbled upon a few very good articles for the Eavy Metal team. Not sure if these are posted before, so excuse me if I double post. They are a very good read and have some nice tips, for beginners and pro's alike.

Painting Faces:

Painting Faces Redux
http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m820035a_Painting_Faces_Redux.pdf

Enjoy!

Awesome guides! Personnally i stumbled across them some weeks ago too. It would be cool if we maybe could make a collection of links with official pdf painting guides from GW? What do you think?

I agree!
I liked all the old GW articles but they've removed most of them now

Those articles are great!! 8) May I ask where you found them?

I love them too.

I'd like to know where to find them, as there's no obvious link for the GW website

Wow, GW has articles on their site that are actually useful and are not showcasing new figures for us to buy!

Very nice! Might prove to be useful. :)

Here's another nice one about Elrond:

Elrond Masterclass: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_Cus ... asterclass

(List of FAQs: http://www.adepticon.org/wpfiles/LOTRSBGIndyFAQv1.1.pdf)

And in the attachment is a guide about general painting techniques.. unfortunately for you in German, but the pictures are nice too! Have a look.
I can't find it anymore via google or browser history.

One way to find the "hidden" pdf's of GW btw is to let google scan their site. Search for "http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/ filetype:pdf" and you find tons of pdf files from GW.

UPDATE: The attachment won't load, what can I do?

Looks good, specifically cause I still have an unpainted Elrond in front of me! :P

I have the one for the riders of Rohan, including horses. It's German though, but the Names of the paints are the very same, so maybe it helps at least a littble bit.
Hope it's what you mean.

I remember wondering about that horse guide when it was published when the Two Towers came out (2002). The final highlight is Vermin Fur, which is the old name for Vermin Brown, a medium red brown. They probably meant some light yellowish brown, like Bubonic Brown the last part.

I am looking for the one that was on the GW Blog. Showed the different kinds of horses and how to paint them. I think it was by Chris Peach.
Thanks for all of your responses!

Ok, I tried to google it and tracked it down to http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... 22&start=1 but it keeps showing me the start page, so GW must have taken it offline :(
But then I found this older 'eavy Metal Masterclass guide on horses, hope this helps at least a bit: http://www.cadik.info/warhammer/bretonn ... horses.pdf

Nice horse painting articles, I for one absolutely hate painting horses, because of the large highlighting areas, which tend to come out too ''comic like". I'll probably be giving the Rivendel Knights a go soon, so who knows I might get better.
